See Pac's comment, it's about DACA

I wonder how much Feinstein's tripping him up on DACA spurred this?

Well, it is his "executive time". He's not due into the office until 11.

Must have tough primary? Who is he talking to exactly?

Senator Feinstein's seat is up for election in 2018 and she will be challenged by Democrats to take her place.

yes, it's a top two primary, so it's possible for two Dems to get through. would be great if she loses.
several better Dems are primarying her: Kevin de Leon (the Cali state senate president), Alison Hartson (former head of Wolf-PAC, which seeks to get money out of politics) and a Dem socialist David Hildebrand. If a couple of the hanger ons drop out it could get interesting.
also (((sneaky)))

What is going to become of the California Republican party?

Toronto professor Randall Hansen’s “Fire and Fury: The Allied Bombing of Germany, 1942-1945” is flying off the shelves... why? Stupid people, of course. The author of the 10 year old book had a laugh, and suggests that he might owe some money to Bannon and Trump for it resurgence. It even landed in the top ten of three different Best seller lists.

The people on Amazon, well they disagree that this is a big deal, and felt cheated...

“I DON’T SEE ANYTHING ABOUT PRESIDENT TRUMP! I DON’T KNOW WHY THE DEMOCRATS ARE SO HAPPY WITH THIS BOOK AND MAKEINIG A BIG DEAL OF THIS,” one review said, and at least one reader felt deceived. “HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH BLUMPF !!! SCAM !!!”.

At the very least they could have looked at the cover art with an air craft dropping bombs to get a sense that this might not be what they think it is!

FWIW, the MAKEINIG came from Amazon review, so that might give a small clue as what we are dealing with.

North Carolina district maps ruled unconstitutional:
The judges -- James A. Wynn, a Barack Obama appointee to the 4th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, and federal district judges W. Earl Britt, a Jimmy Carter appointee, and William L. Osteen Jr., a George W. Bush appointee -- were unanimous that North Carolina lawmakers under Republican leadership violated the U.S. Constitution's equal-protection clause when they drew maps explicitly to favor their party.

"On its most fundamental level, partisan gerrymandering violates 'the core principle of republican government . . . that the voters should choose their representatives, not the other way around,'" the majority opinion states.

The ruling is the first time federal judges have struck down congressional districts as partisan gerrymanders. A Wisconsin case that was argued before the U.S. Supreme Court involved state legislative districts found to be partisan gerrymanders.

During the legislative session in which the maps were drawn, Rep. David Lewis, a Harnett County Republican who has shepherded the state's recent redistricting efforts, announced that the maps were drawn to give Republicans a large majority. Lewis made his comments after the federal court found congressional districts drawn in 2011 to include unconstitutional racial gerrymanders. In announcing the new maps, Republican lawmakers stated that the race of voters would not be considered in the design of the new districts.

"I propose that we draw the maps to give a partisan advantage to 10 Republicans and three Democrats because I do not believe it's possible to draw a map with eleven Republicans and two Democrats," Lewis said at the time.

At the time, the courts had allowed for some partisan consideration in redistricting, which happens every 10 years after the census shows population shifts. But voting rights organizations have pushed for changes to that, saying modern mapmaking technology has allowed candidates for elected office to choose their voters under new redistricting plans instead of letting voters choose who represents them.

The comment by Lewis has provided the underpinnings for a lawsuit that sets North Carolina apart from other partisan gerrymander challenges. The Wisconsin case before the Supreme Court relies more heavily on a proposed statistical formula called "the efficiency gap," which counts the number of votes wasted when voters are shifted into districts where their votes won't matter, either because their party's candidate can't win or is already sure to win.

the proof was that they simply admitted to it

let's see if less explicit admissions will matter in Wisconsin and PA

President Trump held a bipartisan meeting to talk about immigration, specifically finding a DACA fix. But he let the cameras roll for nearly an hour during the extraordinary meeting, showing Trump and both Republicans and Democrats weighing in on the subject.

Today, Trump said it was a "tremendous meeting." "Actually, it was reported as incredibly good and my performance, some of them called it a performance. I consider it work," Trump said. "But got great reviews by everybody other than two networks who were phenomenal for about two hours. Then after that, they were called by their bosses and say, oh, wait a minute. And unfortunately, a lot of those anchors sent us letters saying that was one of the greatest meetings they've ever witnessed."

More proof that, ultimately, all Trump gives a shit about is Trump. As to the bolded comment, (i) why would it be unfortunate that they characterized the meeting that way, and (ii) I challenge the WH to produce one non-Fox letter characterizing it as such.

i think these guys get it, as opposed to the PA lower court judge, who said something along the lines that "some amount of partisan map drawing is OK, but the plaintiffs have not been able to describe how much". I was dumbfounded.

If this interests you, and you don't already, you should listen to The Gerrymander Project on 538's politics podcast feed. 6 part series that ends this week.

DACA plan must include funding the wall. Without the wall nothing else works. So he will not sign anything without his albatross, effectively trashing everything that his interpreters tried to say what at "wall" is.

EDIT -> They are carelessly letting him talk to the press. He's been edgy, and if they don't give him the hook, he might melt down. I'll need to see the new later today. I off ramped when he was going off on Hillary not being interviewed under oath about who knows what, which included the Dems being the Russian colluders. He's reliving the election win, and his greatness.

I've read (completely unsubstantiated) rumors of the MO governor resigning tonight (his state of the state is tonight) based on an upcoming WaPo report about affairs/sex parties etc.

Note this comes from a random message board person. Another poster said a friend at STL Dispatch said the KC Star and PD are working it up.

If true, you heard it here first, if NOT true, wow, the internet, amirite?
