Quite a name drop there 1.

Yeah I also apparently left out a preposition. I have never met Topher Grace.
Fine. You wanna act like you're two? I'll act like I'm one.

- so is this arc going to be about the rise of Kylo? Or will this be about SKYWALKER being in us all?

- how the F does the emperor survive all these years?
On a scale of 1 to Chris Brown, how pissed is he?

It could be that "Skywalker" gets used as a title for a new type of (more balanced?) Jedi or something. Or it could be Kylo. Or Rey is actually a Skywalker (please no). Or maybe there's some other progeny out there we don't know.

As for Palpatine, he could be a Force Ghost. Or a clone, as had happened in some stories (stuff that's now non-canonically I think ). Or he might not be alive but just appearing in the film as a flashback or a video of him or something.

Man it's all muddled. I really hope it comes to a satisfying conclusion. I've generally enjoyed the new films, but the way Disney seems to be making it up as they go along does not make me confident.

Not that I have a particular love for JJ but this is everyone's annual reminder that Lucas was making it up as he went along.

You know I plum forgot Ray is not a Skywalker.

I'll bet JJ Abrams just makes it turn out that actually, she is. Which will be disappointing, because the best thing about The Last Jedi was that she wasn't.

If Darth Maul was able to somehow stitch his torso back together and Leia survive the vacuum of space, I suppose anything is possible.

IX will end up being a good movie because JJ Abrams is in charge, but it's amazing to me the damage Rian Johnson did with TLJ. He did the unthinkable and has the Star Wars franchise on life support. How is that even possible?

This is absurd. Life support? It made 620 million dollars! RotS is going to make more because it's the finale of the trilogy.

Both previous trilogies followed a similar trajectory, box office wise.

TPM: 475m
AotC: 311m
RotS: 380m

Star Wars: 470m
Empire: 290m
Jedi: 309m

Solo 'bombed' because it wasn't very good and no one gives a shit about origin stories for a 40 year old character. Everyone already had in their mind who Han Solo was and didn't care to be shown where he started.

Yeah, I disagree.

Solo bombed because TLJ alienated half the fan base. Solo was a much better movie than TLJ and if it had come out after TFA it would have been a huge hit. They also cancelled several other spin off movies that were in the works after Solo bombed including the Boba Fett movie. The stand alone movies they had planned for years are all on life support. Merchandise and toy sales also significantly down. They had all the momentum in the world after TFA which was a fantastic movie and completely blew it with TLJ.

I will give you that "Failed" may be too strong a term, but you can't deny they are struggling right now versus expectations.

Gonna suck when WDW has to close due to disinterest in Galaxy’s Edge.

I liked TLJ, but shouldn't any blame for larger issues lie with whoever made the decision to have a separate team write and direct the middle piece of a trilogy? how was that supposed to play out

What killed their extended plans is that they think Star Wars can be Marvel but literally nothing else can be Marvel. They were right to cut it off when they did.

Seconded.

TFA was bereft of even the hint of a single original thought. Which is no surprise, given who directed it.

I assume Rise of Skywalker will - ahem - “correct” all the miscues of TLJ, and give the fanboys exactly what they want: more of the fucking same.

JJ Abrams is the goddamn worst.

I feel like there is a good chance that the First Order has developed some sort of super weapon and just when it appears that the rebellion is about to get wiped out someone will locate some fatal flaw in the design and a group of rebels will lead a covert mission to destroy it just in time. Just a hunch. And at the end Kylo will reject the dark side and whatever.
