Rachel tonite made a kind of interesting digression on ways assgaskets like Manafort lie about their wealth. They'd tell you their affairs are "complex" - another mostly lie. What they're doing - what many if not most wealthy people do - is lie about their wealth. Among the reasons is that figuring wealth IS "hard", as in tedious, generally - but also because among the assgasket contingent of the wealthy, the main thing they've learned is that it's more important that they SAY they're wealthy, vs demonstrating it with anything like auditable precision.
