A call isn't made every single time. Sometimes a President visits the family, sometimes they send a letter. I do think General Kelly perhaps warranted a call since he is the highest ranked military official to have lost someone in Iraq/Afghanistan.

the only reason you even know about this is because trump made the despicable comment and they put this out there to get people to talk about it because a reporter asked Trump how he responded to the servicepeople dying in Niger.

Whelp: Gen. Kelly and his wife attended a gold star family breakfast, and sat with Michelle Obama. I guess the 'treated unfairly' angle is not holding up.

Also there have been 6 KIA this year with over 500 in 2010. That makes' Donald's calls a little more manageable. Donald calling 100% of the time might be one of those really lousy counting metrics.

Wisely, both Obama and Kelly are not touching this.

Kelly has always kept his son's death as private as possible, if Trump is using this excuse without permission I can imagine him being quite angry about it

It may be that Kelly sees himself as the only thing standing in the way of Trump destroying what's left of the country. I mean--if Kelly does leave, what happens then?

He's off to a great start in that regard. His competition is guys like Andrew Johnson, Franklin Pierce and James Buchanon.

Senators Alexander and Murray have reached a deal to fund subsidies to health care insurer. The funding is for 2 years to help provide stability to the markets and boost confidence for insurers.

I can't wait for Trump to take credit for this. A deal would have been made eventually, but he had to unpin the grenade by stating he would stop funding CSRs.

Correcting my numbers, apparently in Obama's first year 466 American troops died in Iraq and Afghanistan, versus 25 this year. I was low on Trump and high on Obama.

That, however, does not make it excusable that comforting sorrows has been weaponized as a point of contention to further divide, which is a nicer way of saying that Trump is bragging about being respectful to the families of fallen soldiers. Disgusting behavior.
