The Governor of Puerto Rico petioned the White House to temporarily waive the Jones Act, and per Sarah Huckabee-Sanders this morning the Act will be waived effective immediately.

Just for comparisons sake, after Katrina, the Jones Act was waived on Sept. 1st, three days after ravaging New Orleans/Louisiana. The Trump government issued a waiver of the Act in response to Harvey and Irma on Sept. 8th, about two weeks after Harvey made landfall and before Irma had hit Florida.

80 Family farms would fall under the DEATH TAX today. As someone sagely pointed out, the beneficiaries or an inheritance tax elimination would be 0.04% of the US population.

Found a reference to a credible figure that 0.04% of the farms in question met the criteria to pay an estate tax. Also, this is the AP fact check on the few details of the plan thus far.

Holy Shit! Just heard DjT say that NFL owners want to do something about the National Anthem, but he thinks that they are afraid of their player. That is no dog whistle, it is a siren.

The markets are not too keen on the plan. Bonds down, dollar down, and trading is cooling. Hmmm. I guess the thinking is that it would be better.

I don't know if everyone here is totally over the Moore thing, but I saw a comment on a Reddit thread yesterday saying that the commenter voted for Moore because the democrat polled better against him than the competition. Can't see how that strategy could backfire!

I'm sure it's marginal enough in Alabama to not matter. Moore is who that backwards ass state wants.

But I think we'll see this (not cross voting, but extreme primary winners) in a few actual swing areas which will push them democratic when some nutjob tea partier wins in May and gets beat in the general.

@realDonaldTrump 3h3 hours ago
Democrats don't want massive tax cuts - how does that win elections? Great reviews for Tax Cut and Reform Bill.

he's really good at making subtext into text. the major reason democrats should support his plan is it may help them politically (not even true based on polling numbers). no moral or policy reasons need apply.

i mean the guy is replacing Luther Strange (who replaced Jeff Sessions) and will likely vote little different than either of those two Republicans. He just makes his crazy public instead of private. This is who the voters want.

Look, he was outed twice for technical facts that impaired his ability to carry out his elected function, which means he was elected once as a rabid candidate, then again as a disgraced public official, so Roll Tide. Now that he has a different platform who knows what he will do, but here is some of his egregious past.
