lawerly idiots publicly discussing details of russia investigation within earshot of reporters
this is Ty Cobb:
Image
wow:
he debate in Mr. Trump’s West Wing has pitted Donald F. McGahn II, the White House counsel, against Ty Cobb, a lawyer brought in to manage the response to the investigation. Mr. Cobb has argued for turning over as many of the emails and documents requested by the special counsel as possible in hopes of quickly ending the investigation — or at least its focus on Mr. Trump.

Mr. McGahn supports cooperation, but has expressed worry about setting a precedent that would weaken the White House long after Mr. Trump’s tenure is over. He is described as particularly concerned about whether the president will invoke executive or attorney-client privilege to limit how forthcoming Mr. McGahn could be if he himself is interviewed by the special counsel as requested.

The friction escalated in recent days after Mr. Cobb was overheard by a reporter for The New York Times discussing the dispute during a lunchtime conversation at a popular Washington steakhouse. Mr. Cobb was heard talking about a White House lawyer he deemed “a McGahn spy” and saying Mr. McGahn had “a couple documents locked in a safe” that he seemed to suggest he wanted access to. He also mentioned a colleague whom he blamed for “some of these earlier leaks,” and who he said “tried to push Jared out,” meaning Jared Kushner, the president’s son-in-law and senior adviser, who has been a previous source of dispute for the legal team.

After The Times contacted the White House about the situation, Mr. McGahn privately erupted at Mr. Cobb, according to people informed about the confrontation who asked not to be named describing internal matters. John F. Kelly, the White House chief of staff, sharply reprimanded Mr. Cobb for his indiscretion, the people said.

the case against cooperating is being pushed by the guy above

Not sure if you're implying any particular commentary here, since it is the politics thread. There is a growing pilots shortage, exacerbated by the requirements you've quoted. I don't think it's politics per se, but how we as a society balance risk and licensing requirements with greater demand for these services.

http://money.cnn.com/2017/07/27/news/co ... index.html

After the 2009 Colgan Air crash that killed 50 outside of Buffalo, new rules on pilot training were put in place. New pilots are required to have 1,500 hours of flight time before they can earn their air transport pilots license.

That's another 1,250 hours pilots must accumulate after getting their commercial certification.

Supporters of the rule say it has been a success and there hasn't been a U.S. commercial airline fatality since the Colgan crash.

However, critics contend the rule is a huge barrier to new pilots who would seek to start at regional airlines and also point out that both pilots on the Colgan flight had more than 1,500 hours of flight time.

this is an older piece before the agreement to raise wages, but a lot of this gap is because airlines didn't want to pony up the dough until recently. so, it was a small commentary, but i'm not wedded to it.

Pacino, I think both are true. Wawges are being forced upwards, and there is also a shortage internationally.

#FakePolls, what do polls know? Polls hated Donald and now what.

In other news: A friend of mine is going on a 10 day trip to Ireland, and he is worried about the reception he is going to get. I told him to say he is seeking asylum.

'UN members don't pay their fair share'

'UN is no friend of democracy'

Going to be a good week at home for deal maker Donald after dropping these little tarts.

Is it a legitimate negotiation strategy to insult as the opening salvo? I am trying to get my head around how that works.

It also had a 46% favorable rating for Trump.

So yeah, that poll doesn't seem awesome to me.

Suffolk is rated B+ by 538, so it seems pretty reputable to me. this is a lull time right now before the last push so i could see Gillespie garnering some opposition votes and Northam not having energy since it's the incumbent party and he has to defend a bit. When it gets to November we will see if Northam has a real GOTV and stirs them to come out.

Arizona Governor Doug Ducey gives Graham Cassidy the thumbs up, meaning it has a very good chance at passing. Murkowski and Collins are solid nos, but I don't buy a word that Rand Paul says in opposition.
Quick Google shows that GoGo is wrong with regards to the Kiwi and the Banana.

With a glance I though that the Johnny Rebs managed to get their own party together without pretense... HYDRA.

Now Cliff Hyra is uninspiring. Former lobbyist Gillespie should not pass the smell test for voters with that recent past, but he was also the RNC Committee chair giving him legitimacy (current gov was the DNC party chair once upon a time, so...), but we are into a new era of party power grab so all bets are off.

President Trump's chief of staff John Kelly is reportedly freezing out aides to the president he deems unfit for serious meetings, including aide Omarosa Manigault.

The New York Times reported on Friday that Kelly has created a "no-fly list" of aides who previously wandered into meetings unannounced and uninvited but who no longer have that power. Manigault, the Times reported, is chief among them.

I missed this, but TBF there were some other important things happening when this was reported on Sept. 9. Omarosa, unqualified? Do tell.
