from WaPo:
The implication is that even in the most extreme scenario that we were able to identify … we expect only a 0.13-percent ($8.4 million out of $6.2 billion) increase in health care spending,” Rand's authors concluded.

By contrast, total military spending on erectile dysfunction medicines amounts to $84 million annually, according to an analysis by the Military Times — 10 times the cost of annual transition-related medical care for active duty transgender servicemembers.

The military spends $41.6 million annually on Viagra alone, according to the Military Times analysis — roughly five times the estimated spending on transition-related medical care for transgender troops.

Another GOP house member threatens violence to a female Senator. Saying someone needs to go over to the Senate and "snatch a notch in their asses." This term means hit them with a switch I believe.

he probably wanted to use the word snatch when discussing her; so much misogyny is in our politics/society.

this one was about Murkowski

Inside Trump’s snap decision to ban transgender troops - Politico explanation of why Trump did this today, basically he thought he needed to take the transgender military issue off the table to get his border wall funding, jumping in after the amendment failed in the House and the Pentagon wasn't responding. Par for the course, but in taking the action there was little/no planning, it went way farther than even the advocates were asking, and there's no grounding for how this will be implemented, hence the steady stream of statements from random GOP congresspersons opposing the move.

The president’s directive, of course, took the House issue a step beyond paying for gender reassignment surgery and other medical treatment. House Republicans were never debating expelling all transgender troops from the military.

"This is like someone told the White House to light a candle on the table and the WH set the whole table on fire,” said one senior House Republican aide. The source said that while GOP leaders asked the White House for help, they weren't expecting — and got no heads up on — Trump's far-reaching directive.

The most "this is fine" bit comes from Buzzfeed's article on the matter with this quote: "At the Pentagon, the first of the three tweets raised fears that the president was getting ready to announce strikes on North Korea or some other military action. Many said they were left in suspense for nine minutes, the time between the first and second tweet. Only after the second tweet did military officials receive the news the president was announcing a personnel change on Twitter."

Well oiled machine.

I really wish somebody would just stand up and say "We get it, Donald, you won the election. Is there anything else you are about to talk about?".

Another Amendment to repeal ACA falls. The real vote will be on whatever McConnell puts up at the end, but good to see things fail.

Here's a nice contrast to draft dodging Trump.

Teams lie, sometimes for good reasons, sometimes for bad. They do it to get an advantage while they look at the trade market or just because they can

That was tweeted by the President, wow. I mean, I don't mind the platitudes that politicians play to the Christian God, but A) Trump is disgusting, B) Trump is immoral.

Straight repeal and repeal and delay both failed today. Caputo and Heller were no on straight repeal, but I can see them siding eventually w/ whatever McConnell puts out when it has some kick backs they can try and sell.
