This sounds very much like Austria-Hungary's demands to Serbia in the Summer of 1914 after the assasination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand. The conditions were impossible to meet and really just a pretext for a declaration of war which, of course, became WWI.

Donald is on the course again today. This time at his course in Virginia. I got to enjoy a half an hour of waiting for his Convoy to get off the toll road from DC so that he could make the arduous Journey up to the course.

I am sure that he needed a break, especially since he has not golfed since Wednesday in New Jersey. I assume that this is "working" at the course where he is bringing out Senators to impress upon them his will to not fail again with Healthcare. Are we still at at least five Republicans who are a no vote? There's not an official pronouncement on Collins yet either, right?

One of the forgotten stories of the first Iraq War was the possibility that the Bush administration (inadvertently?) may have encouraged Saddam Hussein to invade Kuwait when April Glaspie, the ambassador to Iraq said the US does not take a position on the dispute between Iraq and Kuwait. Hussein however went too far, invading all of Kuwait rather than just seizing some territory at the border.

So now we have at best a far clumsier, inexperienced foreign policy team led by someone who probably couldn't find Qatar on a map or even spell it. One even wonders if Trump knows that the US has a substantial military presence in Qatar.

I predict bad things are going to happen.

California Assembly speaker tabled the medicare for all proposal:

Rendon announced late Friday afternoon that the bill, SB 562 by state Sens. Ricardo Lara (D-Bell Gardens) and Toni Atkins (D-San Diego), would not advance to a policy hearing in his house, dampening the measure’s prospect for swift passage this year.

“SB 562 was sent to the Assembly woefully incomplete,” Rendon said in a statement. “Even senators who voted for SB 562 noted there are potentially fatal flaws in the bill, including the fact it does not address many serious issues, such as financing, delivery of care, cost controls, or the realities of needed action by the Trump Administration and voters to make SB 562 a genuine piece of legislation.”

Rendon took pains to note that his action does not kill the bill entirely — because it is the first year of a two-year session, it could be revived next year.

With the Nevada veto, at least the clear option is to try to grab the governor's seat in 2018 and go for medicaid buy-in again in 2019. With California? Where there's a supermajority already? idk. primaries i guess

Seemed a few months ago this was pretty likely. I think with Trump vomiting all over himself and getting under investigation he'd wait another year.
