Mueller's job isn't one of unearthing evidence, and hoping an Alexander Butterfield comes along to reveal a taping system. Mueller's is an editorial process, selecting and arranging the best, most damning stuff, from among so MUCH stuff, to bury drumpf and as many of his minions as possible, as deep as possible. In what ORDER do you knock them down? Which of them do you select to rat out particular others, because you know they'll rat; it's just how high each one can take you....
Impeachment doesn't so much require legal acumen as it requires patriotism. The latter is in short supply among congressional Republicans. "This shit" takes so much time because it takes so much time to squeeze, to distill even a gram of character out of such a meager strain.
