Republicans do not care. They just recently elected a guy who attacked a reporter. Family values!

prediction: drumpf will grossly exaggerate both the import of the GA6 win and his role in making it happen

Matthew Yglesias‏ @mattyglesias
Her four years as Speaker were a heroic triumph, but after tonight I think House Democrats need to think hard about the Pelosi Question.

I doubt anything comes of this, but if Dems could trade her for Hoyer or Tim Ryan or Sean Moulton or whomever really think a House Dem takeover is likely rather than lean/tossup.

And bucking the trend of these specials, despite getting outspent, GOP ran about 3-4 points better than Trump tonight in Georgia, though this district was a bit of an outlier with how far it swung against Trump.

Kyle Kondik‏ @kkondik
Dems should consider dumping Pelosi force simple reason that she is the party leader in the House and they've recovered no ground since 2010

Seems screamingly obvious to me. Kyle is one of the best nonpartisan election analysts out there. Do wonder if this gathers some momentum.

She was a wonderful Speaker and great at whipping the vote, but she hasn't done well since losing the Speakership.

By the way, 259k votes were cast in #GA06 vs. 89k in #SC05. The more DNC/DCCC/media attention for Parnell, the *worse* he would've done.

That turnout for a special is *insane*

At the low end of the special election spectrum in the CA-34 runoff a TOTAL of 43k people voted. The newly elected rep from Los Angeles got under 26k votes in the general election. Sad!

I think of Republicans, the SC guy tonight is the new low score in the mid 40k range. Ossoff got well over 110k votes tonight and lost.

i get that.

and thats why i tend to believe that GA 6 is not a good indicator of what could happen in the midterms, at least the final w/l result. networks wont have countdown clocks for specific house races as they will all be happening on the same day. a handful might get some national attention, but they cant possibly talk about every single one for days and weeks on end.

i still think it is incredibly important to spend and expand the map. not just in the handful of districts HRC won that have R congress people, but beyond that. I don't know what a good indicator is on if the Ds can flip a certain district, but there is certainly more to it than Hillary was close here or there.

As long as pelosi and Clinton are in the public eye they will continue to be lightning rods for the GOP to stir up the base

Winning while you are out in front is not terribly hard, so since she has been passed in the third turn of the last lap she has shown no ability to reach down for her kick (track, not NASCAR). She really has been an effective mouthpiece to refute the agenda of the GOP, but she continues her losing streak all the while. Since there is a huge store house of sound bites on he for rhetoric purposes, a change would be a fantastic idea. Fresh blood, fresh ideas, and no baggage.

Here is an optional attack piece from a possible future:

Steny Hoyer, that guys got a funny name. Can't trust him. Besides, he's from the People's Republic of Maryland. Shame Steny Hoyer and your silly name.
