Not sure how useful of a barometer that is. There've been a ton of ads on TV for the Dem race, which has been seen as competitive, while the GOP race was ignored as far as I could tell.

That said Dems have won 6 of the last 7 gov/sen races in VA and Trump will be an anchor on Gillespie. Northam is a huge favorite.

After celebrating and saying how well crafted the ACA repeal house bill was Trump now says the bill is "mean" and the senate should make it more generous with more funds

Guess he's not liking his recent plunge in approval rating

So Northam and Murphy. Two firebrand as probable governors in the Northeast :)

I'll take it. Chip away.

Looks to be Gillespie. Wonder if Stewart alleges fraud. He'd do it.

The GOP is basically a white nationalist party. That really is not a stretch

If that was the case we'd probably have picked the white nationalist guy over the lobbyist/former RNC chair in a landslide in such a low turnout affair.

Well, Gillespie is now tied to those monuments

I work in the most liberal part of the state and drove on Jefferson Davis Highway today to go to lunch. There are multiple Lee monuments/preserved homes within a mile of my office. I mean, the New Orleans shit that got Stewart going was repulsive and deserved to come down, but for the most part it's just historic stuff. I dunno what Gillespie did to tie himself to which monuments, but eradicating all traces of the Confederacy from Virginia is pretty impractical and pointless.

I would be for a push to rename Rt. 1 through Alexandria to something other than Jeff Davis Highway though, which I think is being talked about or in the process of happening.

I think the issue is very strange. The attraction these people have to traitorous, losers is very odd considering they just like winning.

I was at Gettysburg a few weeks ago. Went alone. They have several monuments there. Big one of Lee, maybe bigger than the one in Richmond, if you have ever seen that.

Should they be removed from battlefields too?

The reason the ones in the south, or arizona, were put up was to remind everyone of the supremacy of white people. That's why it's important they be removed in many areas of the country.

The fact that he was even a viable candidate and one of the finalists is a pretty scathing indictment

Corey Stewart coming within 5k votes of being the GOP nominee for governor in a major state is a pretty scathing indictment on the GOP, yes. Think you're a few steps from that, which is bad, to the GOP being a white nationalist party. Most Republicans and GOP elected officials are not white nationalists. I dunno. It's just an incendiary, inaccurate, meaningless grenade to lob.

If the GOP is a white nationalist party, what are actual white nationalists?

Kellyanne and other WH surrogates are attacking some of Mueller's lawyers for giving to Hillary and other Dem candidates.

If that's a barrier to fair public service, maybe the president can resign?

Could be that category includes white male nationalist 'leaders' like John McCain & Richard Burr, who decide it's cool for them to pounce on a peer - a fellow Senator- who happens to be an African American woman - who they apparently feel is more 'uppity' than they're ready to deal with.

What in the jumping fuck is wrong with those guys? Don't they know they're on fucking teevee? I'm pretty sure the ugly thing is that, like their compadre Mitch McConnell with Elizabeth Warren, they DO know.

Despite all, Senator Harris did a pretty sweet job of clarifying that Jeff Sessions has, at best, no business being within miles, light-years, of the job he currently partially holds (expanding & contracting recusals & all)
Yes, but in a double utley you can put your utley on top they other guy's utley, and you're the winner. (Swish)

I am sure it the statute of the confederate with his back turned to the n north is still in Alexandria. I always found distasteful. Jeff Davis highway needs a new name too, but it is everywhere here. Not too many battle flags in NVa, but that has to do with all is carpet baggers who took over.
