You're in a quandary: meekly acceding to this request torches your reputation. Refusing to be complict effectively ends your cushy career. Do you:

- refuse to do it, and submit your resignation;

-refuse to do it, and dare your putative superiors to fire you, saturday-night-massacre style;

- play it straight, and insist on preparing a thoroughly documented case for the FBI director's abrupt dismissal based on reasons that are at least potentially credible; or

- tasked to provide said assdoily, go entirely in the other direction, making your "case" so absurdly thin, so transparently a joke, that only an imbecile - a petulant creep incapable of recognizing the damning absurdity of "your" recommendation - would actually act on it?

the last seems like a way to save your own reputation, at least among your peers, in a way that's less drastic than options 1 or 2. It fulfills the order you've been given in a way that's clearly bullshit to any but the order-giver, sparing your career, your paycheck, etc while giving you some semblance of plausible deniability ("look, if I was sincerely on board with this plot, would I have put my name to such a flimsy cover story?")

That's excellently done, I especially loved the alt-right response. I do feel like Trump is "Twitch Plays President" because Twitch chat is cancer, having Twitch play any game is insanity with all of the random control inputs, but it fits Trump, since he doesn't make sense at times and seems like he's reacting to different and contradicting inputs.

I think the left really has to focus its resistance solely on the trump-Russia investigation at this point. All the other stuff sucks too but republican congressmen need to feel the heat on this more than anything else
