He has the right to share classified info, too. It's just bad to do so.

The #1 issue in the campaign was that Clinton may have given people the potential to access classified info, though there was no evidence anyone accessed it. Our president just willingly gave it in order to brag about it.

Trump sent people to DC and you won't believe what they're finding.

The President has he right to do so while the SOS does not.

The problem is that Donald Trump was elected President. Once that original sin was committed we have to live with the consequences of his doing stupid, but legal, things. If a President, in his judgment, wants to share classified information he has the right to do so, no matter how stupid his decision might be.

As much as I despise Trump this is, to me, pretty much a non-story. We elected him and in this instance he's doing what a President has the right to do.

Amid outcry over Trump leak, Kushner "signaled to people outside the White House that he was not closely involved."

lol, even Kushner is trying to distance himself

oh no, it's a story. A story of unfitness for the job. of incapacity to faithfully execute the office. It's all useful. Print out his text emissions on the subject, roll them up, and stuff them up the nostrils of Ryan, McConnell & any other political "leader" in a position to take action to defend the country.
Yes, but in a double utley you can put your utley on top they other guy's utley, and you're the winner. (Swish)

Seriously? Norms just don't matter? Did someone type in this thread that he also could legally, per lawfare, tweet out the nuclear codes but that wouldn't exactly be prudent.

He materially harmed at least one Code Word level intelligence operation and now every intelligence agency around the world will think three or four times before sharing intel with us, given that the one person with broad power to speak about it, could run his mouth to literally anyone.

sure it's legal but a non-story?!

ummm

1) already being reported by the AP that an European official stated that their country will be unwilling to share intelligence with the US if this is proven true
2) good chance this intelligence can be reversed engineered and the sources and methods will be uncovered- meaning lives are now at stake
3) anyone who is trying to be convinced to work for allied/NATO countries intelligence interests against terrorism and the like or be flipped will now be extremely reluctant due to this

McConnell chimes in with a stern chiding (sarcasm)

We could do with a little less drama from the White House

Ok, here is my new theory. Trump knows he was caught on tape giving the russians info about something. So he does it again in plain site and then claims that he was ok to do it because he can declassify anything. So now when the evidence comes out that he's a russian stooge, he can say it was the same situation as he just staged at the white house.

I think that's it. He's creating a new precedent and hiding behind his ability to declassify. It won't matter if they have him on tape giving russians our strategy because he'll just say he's allowed to tell them anything he wants because he's president and can declassify anything.

He hasn't posted in a politics thread in about 3 months IIRC, so I don't know if you'll get a response.

He'll probably post again when either of the following 2 things happens:

1. He decides that he can no longer defend Trump, and comes here to bash him and join in.
2. He continues to support Trump, and posts here if Trump ever does something universally praised.

Coincidentally- IMO- the pictures of Trump and the Russians seem to be the happiest ones I've seen of him during his presidency. Look at pics of him with the Russians compared to him with Angela Merkel. This is not normal.

That was one of my favorite comments because I thought the same thing (not sure what that means about me). In that one picture, he is grinning from ear to ear. Very happy to be in the same room as his comrades. I wonder if someone can find "tape" of Trump speaking Russian - like Kevin Costner in No Way Out.
