STATEN ISLAND — A man killed a squirrel with a bow and arrow that was outside his window after the animal gave him "a look," prosecutors said.

Jonathan Mangia, 27, was inside his Ridgecrest Avenue home in Eltingville on Tuesday when he saw a squirrel near his window at about 8:40 a.m., according to his criminal complaint.

Mangia went outside and threw two rocks to scare the animal off his property, but the rodent stayed put.

"Then the squirrel gave me a look and I took it personal," Mangia told police, according to the complaint.

That's when he grabbed his bow and shot the animal.

The squirrel ran along a power line after getting hit before falling to the street, authorities said. Magia told police that the squirrel removed the arrow itself then ran into a backyard.

When officers arrived, they found it not moving or breathing.

Mangia was arrested and charged with torturing and injuring animals and reckless endangerment at his Wednesday arraignment, the Staten Island District Attorney's office said.
