Yea, but 11,000 of them were in mining, with mining jobs up 35,000 since October. That's his base, they don't care about the overall numbers unless there is a recession/sharp down turn that will affect them. If he can point to the base jobs, it'll be enough.

He loves Bannon too, but those two are apparently at each other's throats so something has to give.

Trump's only loyalty seems to be to his family so, as unpredictable as he is, I feel relatively confident that if it comes to one or the other that Bannon is straight out the door.

Assuming Bannon doesn't have a bunch of russian dirt on trump, so who knows.

he'll probably kick 'em both out and install Ivanka. she's 100% trump, kushner's not blood and bannon isn't anything

Obviously, and there is unfortunately way too long between now and the next election, but if he keeps modest gains in mining and "base" jobs while keep the government relatively afloat it gives him the ability to campaign on his continuing effort to bring back coal and undue the harm done by Obama. His base probably does not care about the raw numbers, and we already know he is a master at riling them up.

Listening to the end of the NPR Politics pod yesterday has me worried. The stated how the POTUS is unpopular, but the GOP owns a majority of the legislative power in states and obviously both houses of Congress. The "problem" with the Progressive Movement is that it's ideas are popular, but it's time frame is accelerated.

Many of the Bernie Bros I know and talked to (n=<20) did not want to support Hillary because they felt she wasn't progressive enough, and many of the cries are coming again to oust anyone who is seen looking at Trump. While the ideas are popular, the legislative disadvantages are extreme (see gerrymandering). Being all or nothing on progressive/social issues lessens the appeal to moderates and shrinks the size of the tent.

The very obvious caveat (besides that I'm spit-balling here before I'm done my first coffee) is that Trump IS already one of the most unpopular Presidents of all time. They are not coattails that anyone wanted to really ride in 2016, and they'll get even more disgusting in 2018/2020, so we may see some swings by default.

Merkel had words of support, and so did some Democrats. No other nation has the wherewithal or power to execute a showmanship launch. The sad thing is that this was probably needed because Assad/Russia took the weak/disinterested words from the administration last week as leeway.

It looks like the missile launch failed, as within hours Assad was able to launch another attack.

I would not be totally shocked if there wasnt collusion between trump and Putin on this. Putin has domestic troubles of his own. Of course, if I'm right, it means Putin\Assad have played trump for a sucker, which is entirely plausible as well.

It was a remote air base chosen because Russia didn't have any known assets there. Of course they still have airstrike capability from other bases.

The US also notified Russia via its deescalation channels that the airstrike would be coming so that Russia could avoid the targeted airbase and the flight path of the cruise missiles. It's a necessary step, but the obvious problem is that Russia can then turn around and warn Assad of the incoming strike.

Not everything is a conspiracy, guys.
