John Ham at the end was so cartoonishly bad. I can't forgive that.

Yeah, that's the thing. It's not supposed to be realistic at all. Kevin Spacey was totally over the top from the beginning.

call it cartoony or not realistic or stylized, but either way, it was incredibly well thought out so with you dudes. My interpretation is that the characters submit to the sound and music around them and that's kind of where they get their personality from.

I agree with you guys on the cartoon thing but also thought Spacey's character turn at the end was nonsensical and that the third act was overall pretty weak. was like a 7/10 imo

Lady Bird was very good. Gonna try to watch Three Billboards and maybe Call Me By Your Name this weekend too.

Would have been ok with Thor Ragnarok as Best Picture

Three Billboards was OK. Probably my least favorite of the Martin McDonagh movies that I've seen (In Bruges, Seven Psychopaths). Think I enjoy them more when they're a little more out there.

Would rank the best picture noms I've seen as Lady Bird, Dunkirk, Get Out / Three Billboards.

Want to watch Ragnarok real bad but I want to wait until it's streaming in 4k.

4K is pretty pointless unless you're watching on a big TV from really close.

I watch on a 65" from about 8 feet.

And besides, when you have a 4k TV already, native 4k is always going to look better than upscaled 1080 content.

4k also generally means HDR which is a fairly big improvement.

It looks different, that's for sure. I think in a few years we'll all be used to it and when we watch old movies they'll look bad.
