Lost City of Z was all it's cracked up to be: beautiful, majestic, thrilling (but possibly boring to some). I'll be thinking about it for a while. B+

Given all the critical praise, I have to say I was a bit disappointed with Get Out. It was well done and entertaining but much more blunt with its plot and message than I expected

Don't let the ratings fool you... Chips was pretty damn funny. You have to disregard the plot, predictability and overall cheesiness, but once you do, it's got some great scenes and lines. Cinematic brilliance and thought provoking, probably not, but a good fun, entertaining escape, yes.

I watched it last night. Loved the minimal set and the story. Didn't like Denzel though. Reminded me too much of Al Pacino in his later roles of yelling and over-acting. Viola Davis was excellent though.

How the fuck was La La Land nominated for Best Picture?
Movie sucked
Jazz sucks
Songs sucked

Thought it was pretty good. Jazz obviously doesn't suck. That's a pretty idiotic, stupid, dumbass, etc., etc., statement. It was definitely a throwback to to classic Hollywood. Gosling had a nodding performance to Kelly & Crosby, and a little Grant in the non singing department. There were a lot of contemporary nods though that made it feel like it's own thing, mainly the humor. I guess it was largely an homage to a bunch of things past.

I think he's saying the jazz in the film La La Land sucks, not jazz in general.

It is painfully obvious that jazz does not, and cannot, suck

Jazz blows, dig

I just need to see Chicago, Terms of Endearment, and The Last Emperor and I'll have crossed off every best picture winner from 1975-current.

Also, i watched Unbreakable last night. It was quite good. Will check out Split soon.

I tried to watch Chicago a few months ago and couldn't believe what I was seeing. might have been worse than Carmen: a Hip-Hopera

I hate musicals in general but Chicago was just awful.
