Finally some common sense.

think you missed the import of the "unless they have 100% proof he's bought and paid for" part

I'm guessing, and it's just a guess, that if they had proof he was 1% bought and paid for it would have been leaked months ago.

Again though, just going out on a limb there.

The government of China awarded U.S. President Donald Trump valuable rights to his own name this week, in the form of a 10-year trademark for construction services.

The registration became official on Feb. 14 and was published in a trademark registration announcement on the website of China's Trademark Office on Wednesday.

This may well be the first foreign trademark to be handed to Trump during his presidency, but is unlikely to be the last. In China alone he has 49 pending trademark applications and 77 marks already registered in his own name, most of which will come up for renewal during his term.

The registration this week came as a surprise win for Trump after a decade of trying — and failing — to wrest the rights to his name back from a man named Dong Wei. The abrupt turn in Trump's bureaucratic fortunes once he declared his candidacy has raised questions about the extent to which his political status may be helping his family business.

Alan Garten, chief legal officer of The Trump Organization, said Trump's trademark activity in China predates his election. Trump has turned management of his company over to his children and a team of executives in order to remove himself from his business and its trademark portfolio, he added.

1. You said all 'deals' would be put on hold.

2. IT'S ON HIS NAME

This is a rhetorical question, but isn't this the absolute definition of an emolument?

well, he now gets a legal benefit (the use of his name for business purposes) from a foreign state (China). So...yeah. He hasn't divested himself of his businesses.

half joking but Kid Rock's name got floated to go against Stabenow in 2018. I'd say it's unlikely but...

Schilling himself has said he wants to run for Senate. He also hates Warren with a passion he usually reserves for Muslims and the cuck left.

So Trump flip flops on China and decides to support the One China policy and contemporaneously is granted trademark rights in China after waiting 10 years. My common sense tells me that's pay for play.

"Emolument" is just a fancy name for a bribe.

I know Phred has been posting updates, but I just saw a CNN article on how 48 Jewish Community Centers in 27 states and one Canadian province received bomb threats in January. FFS America.

I still cannot wrap my head around the fact that he started his question about antisemitism by touting his electoral victory, and never mentioned antisemitism. I assume that it's the "every other thing" in the quote "(w)e are going to do everything in our power to stop racism and every other thing that's going on."

Yes, I'm sure the national media is sitting on a proof of Trump-Russia collusion. I guess they are just waiting for the right time to release it.

LOL indeed.

The loop of the Trump ramble on Leaks, Flynn and sore losers aided by the media is simply astounding. No matter how many times I hear it, it stops me cold and my jaw slackens. He is blaming Clinton/Obama. Sore winner now that he finds out that there is actually work to do. Can't just license the WH name with TRUMP stamped on it (but trying hard).

Just to be clear, the Retiree in Chief will be in Florida for a third time in four chances this weekend, right? So that is $6-9M in spending on getting out of the office since January 20.

Think it's funny that the WH is deploying a billionaire investor ally to "investigate" the Intel leaks...Trumps biggest mistake was dissing the intelligence apparatus that controls everything. Let's be honest...presidents are more or less powerless to control this...intelligence community can bring down anyone Ina heartbeat if they want to

What are the ties between Trump and Russia? Are you speaking of how he talks about Putin publicly? His hosting pageants?

In terms of Manafort, Carter Page and Flynn, it was well known they all had significant business dealings in Russia long before Trump ran for president. Hell, Carter Page probably made 9 figures for himself working with Russian energy companies, 8 at a minimum. So did people in the Clinton campaign starting with John Podesta who had huge money deals in the recent past with Russia.

I don't find anything nefarious about these guys (including Podesta) talking to people in Russia. The NYT story even laid out the caveat that contact with Russian intelligence for people who do business there is not uncommon, and more importantly there was absolutely no evidence found of collaboration of any kind.

I mean if you read the actual NYT article, and then watch CNN or MSNBC, you'd have no clue the talking heads were actually referring to the article. To date, there's absolutely nothing there. Nobody from the Trump administration has broken the law (again, based on what's been reported). Wild speculation and innuendo do nothing for me unless we are talking about college football recruiting.

That being said, people in the intelligence community recording the phone calls of a private citizen and releasing them to the media is a felony. People are so hell bent on trying to take down Trump they are resorting to tactics we see used in Banana Republics.

Totally agree with this. It's dead on.

Trump was stupid to attack the intelligence community. What did he think would happen?
