anecdotal, but i know several trump voters who are extremely bright/intelligent people but don't keep up with politics too much and just absolutely hated hillary. even now they're mostly kind of oblivious to all the batshit crazy stuff going on and not realy too bothered by the trump admin so far. kinda scary

many people vote then forget about it until a general election starts heating up; October 2018 they might tune in for the midterms.

then there's the 'give him a chance' people, and their window for how long a chance we are giving him grows with each screwup.

then many others who follow politics still seem mired in the goddamn election. time has moved on; it's 2017, he's president and we need to live in the now and figure out how fucked we are, not re-live a primary or a general election over and over like a hellish groundhog's day.

they're life long republicans who don't really care as long as taxes go down in the long run. bad people imo.

My take on Flynn.

No way. Flynn was one of the weakest choices Trump has made outside of DeVos and Sessions.

I was not in favor of having a career Intelligence officer become the NSA. Too narrow of a career field within the military. MI Officers are really, really bright, but they tend to have tunnel vision when it comes to strategy and operational art.

Also had heard from many peers that Flynn was a real hothead with subordinates, and I don't like that kind of leadership. I certainly don't think it plays well in DC.

Now, Petraeus should never even be considered for another government job. He is a con man. He conned the American people into believing the Afghanistan and Iraq wars were winnable, how's that turning out for us now? He is a criminal, allowing access to extremely high-level classified information to his lover. He is a moral degenerate, he cheated on his wife while in Afghanistan, and only married her in the first place because her Dad was the Superintendent of Cadets when Diamond Dave was at West Point. I'd rather have a potted plant be the NSA instead of Dave. Oh, by the way, I saw Paula Broadwell a number of times when I was deployed in Kabul, I will give Dave credit for identifying female talent.

Congress will do little folks. Opening up an in-depth investigation on Russian espionage penetration is as likely to capture Democrats as it is Republicans. Money talks, regardless of origin.

Also, if Flynn didn't realize the communications of the Russian ambassador weren't going to be monitored, he's clueless and should have never been appointed in the first place.
