I hate to be that old guy - but when I was taking train to NYC all the time and then living in Manhattan and going the other way, it was $36 round trip. $24 and half off for the other way $12.

The local from 30th to Trenton, then Trenton to NYC was $10.

It's a damn crime that the rail industry was decimated which is basically the doing of GM post WWII.

I'm for a total revamp of green rail, and nationalize airlines too. Regulate them. Subsidize them. And get people out of cars and make air travel reliable, safe and not crazy priced. I'm also open to not being able to fly non-stop to a lot of places 3 times a day 7 days a week if the demand isn't there.

If we had trains that for some portions of the travel could get up to 300mph, then in 3 hours you've done 1/3 the nation. For me in Calif, with fam and friends in NY Phila. DC etc... I'd do trains if it only took say day and half... and I'd make flight changes if it meant I could afford it and it was safe and I had sufficeient leg room to not get thrombosis.

Private train and Private air, and transportation in general, is nuts. If we need it as part of modern day life, cut the military bs pork and stop subsidizing Pharma and let's rebuild infrastructure and make trains and planes, and single payer health care, and lots of things for the common good. Subsidize as needed. Tax the rich, tax the corps. That's a healthy nation with enough for all and not the lifestyle of a Pharoah for a select few... but I digress...

Phila-NYC on train should never be over $65 round-trip even in 2017.

I don't have faith in these types of big infrastructure projects ever happening in America again. Costs are too high, and modern, late stage capitalism has no interest in benefiting future generations. It only cares about maximizing profits, at all costs, as quickly as possible. Even large in scope projects, but small in comparison to what your describing have gone wildly over budget by the billions. The Path Station/Oculus in NYC, the 2nd Street line & the new Bay Bridge all come to mind. Long term I think we all know big projects like that are actually a good investment, and they act as economic stimulators, but the benefits are spread to a larger swath of people, so the plutocrats have less interest.

SPEAKING OF TAXES I had to file a dispute over my 1098-T from Albright. They filed it saying I was a graduate student (I wasn't!). With the wrong information I owe ~$550, with the correct information it's a $400 refund.

Whatever that song is that Wawa's been using in their commercials for the past year, Volkswagen is now using it for their Jetta commercials too, so if you aren't looking at the screen, you don't know which commercial it is until about 5 seconds in

I've mentioned it before that for some reason the IRS makes me withhold as a single person with no exemptions. So I get huge tax refunds every year, this year it's $12k, I efiled 3 weeks ago and I'm still waiting for my refund, I went on the refund tracker and it says there is a problem with my refund. I called the IRS and the first person I talked to told me there was a hold on my refund because I didn't file my taxes at some point and I need to resubmit the return to clear the hold. She can't tell me what year it is, so I had to call another number and after 2 hours on hold, they hung up on me. I have all of my prior year tax returns, I do them in hr block going back to 2011, so I don't know when I didn't supposedly do a tax return and I don't know what year to send them, but the fun part of it is, even when I send it to them, it will take 6-12 weeks to then release my refund. What in the motherfucking shit is this?

If you filed with an additional child credit, or one other credit (Earned Income, I think), the IRS is withholding all refunds until 2/27 (yesterday), at which point they will begin processing them. If you don't really have a hold on your account for a prior year, it's likely that, and the 2nd person is a moron.

This may be a stupid question but I have a rental Ford Focus with the sync stereo system and when I connect my phone via usb it sometimes plays music that is not on my phones library. Where is this music coming from?

It's from the last person who rented the car....who was brutally murdered inside of it.
