Aziz killed it last night. Great material plus he did alot of crowd interactions which was definitely the best part of the show. Hope this gets Netflix'd soon.

bought some bibigs tickets for the wilmington show. pretty pumped.

46 a piece though, so this better be good. i have never seen a comedy show live either so i dont even know what to expect other than a guy telling jokes.

I'm seeing Chelsea Handler on Friday night..

I'm not expecting much..been hearing she just shows up to her shows loaded or stoned and riffs for like 45-50 minutes or so and is not too funny..

My girlfriend got us tix as soon as they went on sale, so we shall see..

Saw Chelsea Handler last night...not that great...her opening act, Chris Franjola, was funnier..

Next up, seeing Craig Shoemaker on the 29th...

reccomend.

laughed a lot. the guy who opened for him kinda sucked. but man birbigs is awesome.

one guy had tweeted him early about how he went to the er that morning for collapsing in the bathroom, broke his arm, and then got in an accident on the way there. birbigs gave him and his three friends front row seats. guy wouldnt share what happened in the bathroom other then it was an intense bathroom experience. he had a joke about yoga and that he thought he may have had his period once but wasnt even sure if that was what it was and maybe it was what brad (the front row guy) had that morning.

it was just a lot of fun how he interacts with the audience just the right amount. he is a perfect story teller.

Thought Hannibal's "Live From Chicago" special was just OK but have thoroughly enjoyed hearing him BS about it on all the potcasts

can comedians really sell out 18k seat venues? seems suspicious. that puppet guy came here last year.

I wondered the same thing about Black Keys and even Arcade Fire. They must be offering the artists better deals than they used to, in which case even a 1/4 full house earns them more than selling out the Merriam or Tower or whatever

But fan experience suffers

they don't need to sell out 18k either. nearly a third of the venue is closed off.

still, a stupid impressive amount of seating for something like that

I guess I understand this new approach more with bands, since you can stack the bill (ie, having an opener that could sell 1,000+ seats on their own), giving the fans something extra. But to be fair Aziz and Birbiglia have been selling out multiple nights at the biggest Philly comedy venue, so it probably makes a lot of logistical sense, on top of financials

I'd just much rather be in the rafters of the Merriam than mid-rafter at Wells Fargo and assume it'll be harder to score great seats with the shows' higher profile
