This is Wendy, who joined our family on Feb. 22. She's pretty awesome.

Thanks all. She's pretty much housebroken already. We just need to figure out a way to keep her from nipping and biting. We have a trainer coming over tonight. And her ears went up yesterday.

She most likely wasn't socialized, very unsure and uncertain about everything. Put a lot of work in and she is turning into a sweetheart. A very smartone at that. Just played with another dog for the first time yesterday. We also took our first couple walks the last few days. I think she's gonna turn out mighty fine.

Do I need to adjust my homeowner's insurance now that we have a dog?

Depends, call to make sure. I know some insurances it depends on breed. There are 8 breeds that usually get labeled as bite risks by some insurances, sometimes even more.

These are usual ones. You'll find a range of acceptance usually from all of these to none of them.

Pit Bulls/Staffordshire Terriers
Dobermans
Rotties
German Shepherds
Chows
Great Danes
Presas
Akitas
Malamutes
Huskies
Wolf-hybrids

Thanks Doll... :o ha

It's been a long few weeks, plenty of other rescues weren't nearly as in rough shape as her. I went with my gut. Still think she picked me, even though I had to dig her out of a pile of 8 other shy dogs. Originally wanted a playful male puppy. Came home with the polar opposite.

It's taken some sorcery to build up her trust.

If anyone here finds themselves in the same situation as I with a rescue or overall unadjusted puppy feel free to message me. I can lend some insight into what finally worked.

I originally didn't want to sign up for such an adventure but I can not imagine her with anyone else or still at the shelter.

Named her Mia btw. She is an Aussie shepard/catahoula leopard mix.

Griffey turns one next Thursday. He's still around 40 pounds and hasn't grown much in the last few months...
