Damn,. Hug your kids when you go home tonight.

That's cool and all and I agree with the general point, but I don't know. There's a special kind of person that can open fire on a class of five year olds or a movie theater full of people. In my entirely uneducated opinion, that goes beyond just mental illness. If the difference between you leading a normal life and killing a schoolroom full of children is some medication and therapy, my gut reaction is that I'd rather have you institutionalized/imprisoned/killed than try to help you.

I'm in my car to pick up notsogrizzledrookie from an after school event. He's in 11th grade. I didn't want him on the bus this afternoon. I feel the need to keep him close.

Carter is 6, 1st grade. I was in his school yesterday for parent-teacher conference. sat in those ridiculously small little chairs across from his amazing teacher. i like many feel this hits closer to home than any other of these endless tragedies. this tops them all. I've never been so immediately outraged. this is too much. My mom teaches at Trenton High where they stopped that kid from shooting it up last week or so, then the mall shooting in Oregon, then the Septa El shooting in West Philly - a stop I pass every day.
i really don't know how to go on anymore. this world is a fucking cesspool.

I'm not really trying to create a workable policy here. Just making a point about people with the capability of murdering roomfuls of five year olds (as opposed to say, people capable of killing themselves due to mental illness), who, I would note, didn't have much of a say today in regards to their death.

This is beyond anything I can grasp. 20 kindergarten kids...I don't even know if I want kids if they can be taken so young that easily.
Do it again!

This is sickening. It's also really annoying to see so many people on facebook using the tragedy as a way to further agendas "we need Jesus in schools" or "we need stricter gun laws."

and as a parent - it sometimes feels like you spend your whole being just keeping your kid alive. nursing them through sickness, feeding them, clothing them, loving them, teaching them, sending them to school and picking them up, etc etc etc. and then something like this can happen in the blink of an eye by one person. it's beyond words.

Latter seems a lil more reasonable to say than the former

i don't think thats him, just someone with the same name.

apparently he shot one of his brothers dead, and his other brother was found in the woods near the school.

lots of misinformation out there though
