No worries, that is in protected memory so you will cleared before that is exposed. If we are, then Deja vu is explained when windows freezes and need to reboot, but I think we would remember the royal blue screen sky.

pretty cool Calvin. It looks similar to a famous long-exposure picture of Puyehue-Cordón Caulle volcano complex (Chile), so I wonder if it is the same place. There are some interesting older volcanic lightening pictures from Hawaii where the Kilauea entered the Pacific taken from tourist boats.

That made the rounds on my facebook page a year or so ago. Maybe it was a different vid though. Very cool and seemingly no-brainer idea. And with self-driving and electric cars also the future, it would help with their infrastructure.

So of course this means the fossil fuel industry will kill it.

Or maybe I'm just feeling negative today.

Recalculating the answers to life, the universe, and everyth

Unread postby joboggi » Sat Oct 13, 2018 14:51:02

This thread is about the actual recalculation of life, the universe and everything.

It is not about a radio comedy that made you laugh, because it came on the radio after Click and Clack the tappit brothers. (A car show starring two genius brothers who found themselves fixing cars with a wonderful sense of humor.)

And it is definitely not about conspiracy theories.

For conspiracy theories, see the thread, theories, conspiracies list under irrational thoughts of the day.

Thanks

They have been able to watch chemical reactions ensue in real time for awhile.

Now they can watch light.

I am not kidding.

I also have no idea how they do this, but i know it will change everything.

Examine interactions between light and matter.

That is a big deal.

In a land far away, sits a volcano underneath a glacier.

The glacier JUST happens to hold back an enormous amount of ice.

When that glacier melts because it sits atop a volcano, we will most certainly get several feet of rising sea level.

This link is from google news project.

And yes, this is actually going to happen probably in my lifetime.

This calving is NOT THE BIG ONE.

This is just a sign of things to come.

Approximately half as large as the active Grimsvötn volcano on Iceland.[22]

So some are alluding to some other cause of sea level rise. Yep, there is some other cause in addition to man made emissions we have some old fashioned emissions in Antarctica.

The volcano does not have to erupt to continue causing problems.

Abstract

Tectonic landforms reveal that the West Antarctic Ice Sheet (WAIS) lies atop a major volcanic rift system. However, identifying subglacial volcanism is challenging. Here we show geochemical evidence of a volcanic heat source upstream of the fast-melting Pine Island Ice Shelf, documented by seawater helium isotope ratios at the front of the Ice Shelf cavity. The localization of mantle helium to glacial meltwater reveals that volcanic heat induces melt beneath the grounded glacier and feeds the subglacial hydrological network crossing the grounding line. The observed transport of mantle helium out of the Ice Shelf cavity indicates that volcanic heat is supplied to the grounded glacier at a rate of ~ 2500 ± 1700 MW, which is ca. half as large as the active Grimsvötn volcano on Iceland. Our finding of a substantial volcanic heat source beneath a major WAIS glacier highlights the need to understand subglacial volcanism, its hydrologic interaction with the marine margins, and its potential role in the future stability of the WAIS.

WAIS - West Atlantic Ice Shelf.
