They teased about Star Wars additions at the recent D23 convention in Anaheim. The stuff I've read on the subject is that they will be doing additions to both Disneyland in California and Walt Disney World in Florida. In Cali, it will be additions to the Tomorrowland area of Disneyland Park (where the Star Tours ride already is located). In WDW, it will be additions to Disney's Hollywood Studios (also where Star Tours is), but will be larger. It sounds like plans are still in flux/being developed, but the basics I've heard include a replication of Mos Eisley Cantina for food, a speeder bike thrill ride based on the stuff from Endor (Ep VI), an indoor Jedi Training Academy with an Animatronic Yoda, and possibly a walk through of the Millennium Falcon.

Is Joss Whedon kidding about the end of ESB? This is why he makes shitty movies.

I'm sorry, why were you saying his movies were shitty.

he has an opinion as a filmmaker:

"Empire committed the cardinal sin of not actually ending. Which at the time I was appalled by and I still think it was a terrible idea. Well, it's not an ending. It's a Come Back Next Week, or in three years. And that upsets me. I go to movies expecting to have a whole experience. If I want a movie that doesn't end I'll go to a French movie. That's a betrayal of trust to me. A movie has to be complete within itself, it can't just build off the first one or play variations."

Again, we stress that Whedon is a Star Wars buff, one only needs to watch Firefly to glean his affection for the franchise. The writer/director also feels that aside from the former's ending, Empire and The Godfather II are two shining examples of sequels done right.

The Buffy the Vampire Slayer creator was also asked about his take on the modern version of the vampire, not so much slaying, but often times loving, teen girl.

"A small part of you is like: 'Well, you know, I did that first. I liked that band before they were popular,'" Whedon reflected. "The thing about Buffy for me is - on a show-by-show basis - are there female characters who are being empowered, who are driving the narrative? The Twilight thing and a lot of these franchise attempts coming out, everything rests on what this girl will do, but she's completely passive, or not really knowing what the hell is going on. And that's incredibly frustrating to me because a lot of what's taking on the oeuvre of Buffy, is actually a reaction against it. Everything is there - except for the Buffy. A lot of things aimed at the younger kids is just Choosing Boyfriends: The Movie."

I mean, I disagree with him, but I see where he's coming from. I've been plenty pissed at many movies over the years for similar crap.

And I'm not sure what shitty movies Joss has made outside of the original Buffy movie (which wasn't his fault anyway). Dude was highly regarded as being one of the masterful Hollywood script doctors even before getting recognition with things like the Buffy series and Toy Story. For example, he basically wrote Speed, but didn't get a credit on it.

Re: Joss Whedon

Never saw Cabin in the Woods, so I'll reserve judgement.

The Avengers was average, at best. All noise, no substance. Very expensive, emotionless cartoon. And I like cartoons.

Toy Story is fine, but paint-by-numbers. That kind of stuff writes itself. Puff the Magic Dragon, The Christmas Toy, etc. Same plot, same ideas, execution mildly better than the latter, mildly worse than the former (in that the former is 3 minutes long and makes its point and is actually about weed, so it's like, a metaphor, man).

I'm aware that Puff the Magic Dragon is more the plot of Toy Story 3, but The Christmas Toy is the same story, more or less, as the first one.

I also didn't think The Avengers was all that great but Cabin in the Woods was pretty good and Firefly was awesome.

So yeah, that last one was just me trolling. But the hard-on people have for Toy Story does elude me... I mean, it's cute, but derivative and manipulative when you come right down to it.

Adam Driver from Girls is playing one of the big villains in episode seven. Pretty interesting choice.
