He's probably left handed anyway.

I think that's true. I'm still fine with including Drabek as long as we aren't including Taylor or Brown. Assuming that Happ and Drabek form the core, I wouldn't include Carrasco either (just because we need some near major league ready pitching depth).

Happ, Drabek and Marson +/- some other spare part would be a very reasonable compromise for both parties. If we relent and agree to give up Drabek in addition to Happ, we shouldn't have to give too much else (despite the Jays' initial demands).

What he said.

Okay. So Door #1 is my Happ/Brown/Knapp/Donald offer.

Door #2 is Drabek/Happ/Donald and maybe one more spare part. Since I'm saving both Brown and Knapp in this one, maybe I go as good as D'Arnaud for a fourth player.

Just take one of these fucking offers, JP, and leave us with Halladay in peace!

Ya know who must be the most worried by all these talks?? the fringe players in toronto's high minors. all of a sudden you've got three or four more prospects on your team and you may find an envelope in you locker....

A person from a third team guessed Monday that the Red Sox would "swoop in" and get Roy Halladay from the Blue Jays before Friday's trade deadline. And perhaps Boston is getting involved.

The Red Sox were holding high-level meetings today, and one team official told FanHouse, "Something is going on."

As another Boston person said, "We're not going to let an impact player be moved without investigating."

Boston might need rotation help. Daisuke Matsuzaka and Tim Wakefield are on the disabled list and John Smoltz is 1-4 with a 7.04 ERA. But it will take a lot for Boston to get Halladay.

As one Toronto person put it, "We've got to get every last good guy you have, or we're not trading him."

Philadelphia has been believed to be the best fit for Halladay, and the pitcher's first choice. But the Phillies have not been willing to give up lefty J.A. Happ along with minor-league right-hander Kyle Drabek.

I seriously cant get over the fact that JA Happ is going to prevent us from getting Roy Halladay.

If I'd come to you March 5th and said "Guys, we can trade Kyle Drabek, JA Happ and Dominic Brown for Roy Halladay", there would have been a 99% approval rating on that deal.

Now all 3 of those guys are untradeable.

I feel partly responsible.

If Halladay get's traded somewhere and it isn't the phillies, I will definitely be mad knowing Toronto made an offer to us that I would have dealt with.

If this is what it takes come tonight, then do it... I understand you play hardball to keep some of your players, but you can't work yourself into a shoot...

I still have faith in Rube that he will get this done

We must not undermine Rube's trade leverage with these disloyal posts! There could be Toronto spies among us!

Does anybody take the JP Deadline seriously?

Are we assuming we're going to be sitting here waiting until Friday night to make a deal?

JA Happ will be a 4-5 ERA #4 pitcher in our rotation in 2011 and we'll all be pissed about this.

All the articles today have said that the Tuesday deadline doesn't apply to us because the groundwork is already there, and if something happens after the fact they'll still listen

I've been sitting here thinking about my position on this and I have come around to the group think here - if it takes Drabek and Happ then so be it so long as the rest of the package takes it into account.

These threads have been so numerous I'm not sure I know the answer to this anymore; is the general concensus that Brown > Taylor or the other way around?

I would also like to note that I am tired of hearing ESPN referring to J.A. Happ rather than Jay Happ when discussing the trade. How can I believe a word they say when they don't even know the dudes' name?

Well the deadline is at like 3 PM, so there's no need to worry too much about missing your Friday night gangbang or whatever you're doing

Happ isn't responsible for any of this. They offered Happ. It's Drabek that is holding things up.
