Shame he cost us so many games pitching hurt. Still, I guess it balanced out, all in all.

Had a 5.15 ERA over his last 38 starts / 218 IP. Made $40M for that. Wants to retire/go to Hall of Fame? as a Blue Jay.

I'm less sad to see him retire than I was to watch him sweat/pitch the last couple of years.

I'm intrigued at what Amaro can do with the $20M saved.... haha, just kidding.

It's amazing how condensing it to 5 and a half minutes makes it seem like it's no big deal, pretty easy to do.

All I said was that it's a bit of a slap in the face for him to sign as a Blue Jay. Never said anything about him costing us games.

His first playoff start is the best time I've ever had at the ballpark, and the 2011 game 7 loss to the Cardinals is the best pitched game I've ever seen live (both ways, unfortunately).

He helped make us a legitimate destination, and I'm thankful for that.

But he pitched 3 times as much for the Blue Jays as he did for us, and was hurt and sucked for 50% of his time here. If Cole Hamels pitches here through his contract, and spends 2020-2023 with the Mets, 2 years dominant and 2 years hurt, I'd punch every Mets fan I know in the face for wondering if he'd retire a Met or a Phillie.

And it isn't Roy's fault, but the point to him being here was to win a World Series, and we failed. He was involved in both near-misses, with the Cody Ross 2-homer game in game 1 of the 2010 NLCS, and the 2011 game 7 referenced above. But he isn't to blame - he pitched brilliantly in game 7, just was 2nd-best. Not sure I don't still hold a grudge for the Elft Fielder game, though.

Well this blows. Philadelphia will miss you, Doc!

Even if you are going to retire a Blue Jay, which really nobody should be surprised by.
