Astros eye Amaro
The Houston Astros will interview Ruben Amaro Jr., the Phillies' assistant general manager, Thursday for their GM vacancy. He previously had interviewed for GM vacancies with the Phillies, Los Angeles Dodgers and Baltimore Orioles.

This would restore my faith. Get thee to Houston, Amaro.

Not quite perfect, but pretty awesome.

We're not really looking that bad, are we? If our bullpen blowup and run of crappy hitting night had happened in the same game, they'd be 1-1 and well on the way to their best April since '93.

It's the Phillies. It's April. It stinks.

Gary Matthews has really improved as a color man.

EDIT!!!! I meant COLOR COMMENTARY. That was no reference to the color of Mr. Matthews' skin.

after their first series, phillies are half as far out of first as they were last year.
they are ahead of the braves.
they are even with wc rivals rockies and dbacks.
they are only a game behind the mets.

5 of the 9 phillies pitchers who have game time have allowed ops of .500 or below, and myers is at .710 which isn't bad.

pedro is on the dl.
hampton is on the dl.
mets and braves play this weekend, so a good opportunity to gain ground on an important rival.
