A double and a homer! Way to go Jimmy!

7 quality innings! Way to go Brett!

A gutsy call leaving Myers in to hit for himself in the 7th! Way to go Cholly!

2-4 and a walk! Way to go Ryan!

2-4! Way to go Fence Face!

We almost won this one, folks. Let's keep those spirits up!

Some great things about tonight's game. First, Jimmy continues to show awesome patience, and is now intimidating pitchers. 3 walks, awesom.

Second, you have to be pleased with Ruiz's performance. Time to move him up in the line-up?

Hamels did a great job tonight.

That's two strong starts in a row. If we get that kind of effort consistently, we're gonna win a lot of ballgames.

Now, I know it was a mop up inning, but Il Pulpo was looking pretty lethal tonight. Worked quickly, no unnecessary balls, got guys swinging. I was impressed. much better than I anticipated.

Eaton does not seem to be in shape yet to pitch into the 6th inning.
We now know that Amaro really is running the Phillies. He and Monty seem to have ignored the committee.

The bullpen was fantastic today, pitching 4 1/3 innings of scoreless ball with nine strikeouts. And we managed to outhit the Braves 12-9 while also gathering 6 walks. Today, the starting pitching was lacking, but it's only a matter of time before the Phils put everything together

Rollins is on pace to hit 81 homers this season. And, normally, he gets better as the season goes on, so I'd think 100+ is within reach.

Everyone has got to be really enthused with Jimmy's play thus far. Not only the atypical hot start, as Paul states above he usually starts slow this time of year and then gets white hot late, but also his plate discipline is the most surprising development in his game.

That is very encouraging. As is Burrell's good start. As is Rollins obp. Howard will come around soon and then the offense will click into high gear.

The Phillies have been playing .500 ball over the course of the last four games. I think we've already turned the corner.

To be honest I was looking at the Paul Abbott gamelog in 2004 after Eaton's crap again last night. I really don't know how different Abbott was from Eaton. Eaton's obviously slightly better, but with this offense I'm convinced Abbott could have gotten like 6 or 7 wins in the 10 games he pitched.

At this point, I'll consider the 1 game back to be more relevant that 4th place. Especially since a win tonight gaurantees moving up at least one spot.

We face Cormier tomorrow. Even Nunez should get a hit.

If the Phillies do somehow manage to squeeze into the post season, the fact that none of the teams they are likely to face are all that overwhelming means that there's no reason they can't make the world series. I'd even consider making an actual cash wager on the Phils to win the NL Pennant should the make the post season. I figure I'd get at least 6-1, maybe even as high as 8-1.

I'm not talking mortgage money--and this is dependent on them actually reaching the playoffs. At this point, I think my money is pretty safe.
