Here is a thread that deserves 50 pages.

Nothing like heading to the shore and listening to Harry...

I've been out of the broadcast loop so far this season (vacation last week). Is Mitchie-Poo still involved with CSN?

Mitch splits time between both stations (and still calls into WIP) but spends more on MLB Network now

Hal says he knew Harry was really sick........wants to remember him as a great person, not just a great announcer......says Harry was never the same after Richie died...

It feels like a good friend died. His voice kept me company and made me feel "home" whenever I heard it.

I rode the media elevator with him at Veterans Stadium when I was in college radio and trying to get into sports broadcasting. All I could say was, "You're Harry Kalas". He just smiled, winked, saw the crappy tape recorder I was going to use for player interviews and said, "Good luck."

Harry Kalas. This hurts. I know he was old and not as spry as he used to be, but it is still a shock. Isn't it strange that 73 seems not so old anymore? It feels as if a family member has died.
There is seriously going to be a void in the broadcasters booth. And who would have thought that at the time of his hire? Last season, with the playoffs, the World Series with his son Todd joining him in the booth for an inning, and emceeing the parade speeches is such a blessing to have as his final full season. And what a game Sunday for his final game overall. I know I'll always hear him in my head, doing play by play with Whitey beside him.

I was at a great Phillies game in 1998 which they won 8-7 with a brilliant rally in the ninth against the Pirates, resulting in one of the great Harry Kalas calls. There had been a rain delay, and there were so few people left at the Vet y the seventh inning, the broadcasters could hear and acknowledge individual fans. My firend and I watched as two dudes got Wheeler's attention, and he looked out from the booth and waved to them. So, naturally, we decided we need to get Harry Kalas. We screamed and screamed his name, and, sure enough, he poked his head out, looked dead at us, and waved.

No big thing, but it meant the world to me when I was 19.

RIP Harry. RIP. I think I will cry, eventually.
