Dale Earnhardt Jr.’s plane ran off the runaway in Tennessee. Damage looks pretty significant but he, his wife and baby are reportedly okay.

There was a surge?

Glad Junior is ok after that yikes. Earnhardts and crashes not a good thing.

There was a very distinct peak where NASCAR really went mainstream in the late '00s that has really evaporated over the last decade. This is why the stands look really empty on television, because those seats were needed in 2007, but not anymore.

Due to the individual competitor nature of NASCAR, it has had several small plane/aircraft crashes in its history. Most notably the fatal crashes of Alan Kulwicki and Davey Allison a few months apart in 1993. Team sports generally use larger planes and/or charters that are safer.

Love when NASCAR drivers get all up in their feelings after a race. Pit road fights.

its kinda fun that its more real than other sports at that point - within 2 mins after it happening theyre interviewing the one guy and he's not pulling any punches 'he asked if i wanted to go, i said yeah, and he walked away, so...'

truex with a rocket ship today and his team puts the tires on the wrong side of the car and probably costs him a championship.

Truex got his lap back with a caution when John Hunter Nemechek had issues and made it back to fourth before the end of stage 2. Can still win this (and have the Eagles win the Super Bowl 2.5 months later, again!).
