I speculated on this the night that I saw the video. Seems highly plausible. Still think Stewart's a scumbag though.

Pretty cut and dry. Lad had no business running around like that; Stewart can only be held responsible for his own actions and as many state nothing will ever prove intent; what more is there to say? It's unsurprising to see the PC terror squad flying the flag for victim culture once again though. Werthless hit it right on re: leftness vs rightness and how it will skew perception on something like this. When the brain goes straight to attitudes like "Who can we blame? Obviously not the dead guy" that's a sickness and Stewart almost too perfect a character to be nailed to cross for something that happened TO him in a situation which he does not create. Really only still a story because of how the initial reports speculated and framed it

just to clarify my concept of "prison" is very loose for tony stewart. i don't actually care if he goes to jail and would accept if he found himself in a mental prison all his life over the guilt of killing the young boy with his race car. fuck the police.

In 2012, NASCAR put together a humorous promotional video of less than two minutes titled The Art of Helmet Throwing.
It featured that season’s top 12 Sprint Cup drivers playfully throwing helmets at life-sized cardboard cutouts of each other. Clips of drivers taking out their frustrations by doing the same thing at passing cars during real caution periods were sprinkled in the video.

That Tony Stewart, why he forced Ward to run at his car with the pure power of his psychic psychoness, the kid never had a chance. Super Villains have alot to learn from Mr. Stewart and his dastardly ways.

I think what surprises me so much about this whole thing is that so many people have such strong opinions one way or the other. I've seen the video and, while I don't know anything about car racing, dirt track racing etc., I just don't see how you draw any sort of conclusion from that video. It happens in a split second, Ward runs out on the track, the first car sort of avoids him, and then Ward moves towards his intended target, Stewart, in the turn and all hell breaks loose. Stewart may have done something knowingly and intentionally to make his car hit Ward, or he could have tried to spray mud on him, or he got spooked because some dude was running at him while he's racing and gunned his engine, or probably thousands of other things could have happened that led to Ward getting hit.

Why? It does. By no means think kid deserved to die but he took his life in his own hands with the choice he made and it went south. Of all the possible choices there he made the absolute worst one. I don't know Tony Stewart from Adam to say what went through his head before during or after but do know there's an awful lot of circle jerking going on as part of the crusade on someone who's long been perceived as an antagonist towards the mainstream network of collectivist PC bigots in his words manner and actions. I don't have that strong of an opinion on it, but when people who question whether or not he did it on purpose are met with hyperbole and rants about personal responsibility, the pendulum tends to swing just as far in the other direction.
