At this point, if Morey/Rivers decided to trade Embiid, I might be convinced it was the right move.

Morey is 100% not gonna wanna deal with this next embiid contract.

I don’t think they trade him, but yeah if they did it’s more understandable. Morey’s whole thing is doing whatever it takes to get elite players though. If anything crazy happens I think it’s more likely he gives up like 7 first round picks for Beal or something.

I think it’s just a joke about Morey building teams without prominent big men.

Well it seems like he doesn't like big men or guys that can't shoot so take your pick between Ben and Joel.

Yeah I think it is because of those moves that he probably went away from that strategy of acquiring big men in their prime but he already has Embiid here.

I guess, but that ill-timed joke led to needles crapping on 'Biid not being here. Also, I feel like Morey built something unique in it's own right given what he had, and not necessarily reflective of a philosophy. Also also, he's not gonna be the GM, so it remains to be seen the extent to how this program runs.

I do think Morey isn't going to want to run it back with the same team, whether that is dumping Al or Tobi or something bigger, but I doubt Elton wants to run it back either.
