Did we even do interviews?

Also, will we be the only team where the top executive and head coach are both black? That'd be pretty neat.

Also, complaints from players joining this team have been that there isn't any accountability here. One thing that came up frequently when players from the Cavs championship team talked about Lue was that he held players (including LeBron) accountable and called them out whenever he needed to. I can see why he might not be a great coach for a young team with no expectations loaded with first and second year players while he was successful with a veteran team with stars. He could be just what we need.

I guess one counter is that Spolestra was thought of as being carried by Lebron too and now he’s a great coach.

Part of the former player brotherhood. He seems like a coach that players will respect. I think they needed a voice. Dont know much about his actual x's and o's, but he probably did some nice things in LA Clipland this year

James Jones and Monty in Phoenix but yes would be pretty cool regardless.

To clarify: there is no done deal with Lue. Apologies to Sixers. More to come.

I still think it's weird to ignore Lue's disaster camp, 0-6 start, and firing after James left. hard to buy that he's so good at accountability and personnel management when that was the result the first time he had full rein on the program

I don't know much about the disaster camp, but wasn't he just the scapegoat for the life after LeBron plan? Thought they wanted to play the young players and tank and Lue no longer had a purpose there. It might have been a disaster scenario with management.

maybe, but I think being able to function within a Byzantine organization is important for whoever we hire

just seems to take a lot of creativity for me to understand Lue as the pick among a pretty solid group of candidates. Cassell is like 4 guys above him on the totem pole in LA

I hear ya. I don't know much about Cassell for coach, but that unknown intrigues me more than somebody with a body of work I can criticize like Lue. Many Processes ago, I could have seen it, but not now. This might get Harris' final ok, but it's no doubt Brands pick, and I wonder if there's a stronger relationship there with Lue.

The last five NBA championships went to teams who won the title with first year head coaches (I’m counting all 3 of the Warriors titles since Kerr was their coach for all of them and they won in his first year). Maybe we need a first year head coach. Or Ty Lue since he won in his first year.

Some fun trivia: in the last 30 years, how many teams have won a title with a head coach who (1) had previous NBA head coaching experience elsewhere and (2) never won a title as a head coach? I can think of two.

LB and Carlisle are probably the two, not sure if there's anyone else. Not sure if Houston was Rudy's first gig (edit - it was).
