The union has approved the agreement discussed with MLB for expanded playoffs, only for the 2020 postseason; that agreement is now subject only to ratification by the owners, sources tell ESPN.

Heard the players are getting $50M in exchange for the expanded playoffs. Heard this year might be straight seeding in the first round rather than pick your opponent, which is the big-pic plan MLB wants to install

MLB and the players union have made a deal to expand playoffs for 2020. Still needs ratification so not quite a certainty. Assuming it gets done, playoffs go from 10 teams to 16. @MarlyRiveraESPN 1st

#Braves opened one spot by outrighting Yonder Alsonso to their satellite Gwinnett camp, and opened another by putting Cole Hamels (triceps tedinitis) on the 45-day IL (it's 45-day instead of 60 in this shortened season).

Heard if you lose a player right before a game, like Soto, you can have 2 DH’s. Not sure if 10 players bat or you can put in a good fielder and have someone DH for them.

Betts contract includes $115M in deferrals (8M to 11M each of 12 years). No interest. Contract is valued by union at $306,657,882 total. So deferrals diminish contract value from $365,000,000 by $53,342,118.
