It seems to come down to this: The baseball owners, who have made billions and been given sweetheart leases and absurd tax breaks and the legal freedom to run a monopoly, are unwilling to give back even a little to their communities and support the very game that they represent.

Risk exists in business operation and ownership but there's a refusal to accept it here. Beyond revenue all except the newest owners sit on incredible gains in franchise value. A small sacrifice this year easily might add future gains in value and revenue that far exceed the loss.

I said the players were not likely to win the PR war because the average fan always blames them but I actually think Saturday's and Monday's actions kinda exposed the owners as acting in bad faith. I still don't find the players to be generally sympathetic since the gladly went along with screwing the high school and college kids but as it relates to the current dispute they are more sympathetic than the owners.
