I don't defend the owners. But I'm pretty sure their theory is that while we may play half the games....we won't be making half of the regular revenue since the stadiums will be mostly empty.

I haven’t followed it all but I looked it up today and saw that. The good thing in the proposal is that they would be looking to pay the lowest paid guys their full season salary but that’s crazy to expect the highest guys to get prorated AND up to a 75% reduction. That is insane. The article I read on it said the thought is the owners are worried about the post season getting cancelled due to reemergence of covid I’m the fall and that the post season brings in $777m in tv revenue and that would be lost.

The owners think they're very clever and good PR to pit the rich players vs. the poor.

who is they? they probably mean so salaries could be lower and the highest salary closest to the lowest.
