Or that time you were certain we shouldn’t acquire that reliever that everyone else considered a starter. Saved us from a 7.8 bWAR season from Mike Minor

Can’t count Quinn as anything more than half an outfielder. I think he just went on the DL with tinnitus since we were talking about him.

And I’d rather use that 26th spot on an extra OF than a freaking third catcher who can’t hit.

I would start Dickerson or Cutch in CF. They need to be dominant in some aspect of the game why not offense

Yes, well done to all those who saw a career year coming from him at the age of 31. His previous high was 3.7.

But this kind of gets to the point of why it doesn't make sense to get on people too much about their opinion. Baseball is probably the hardest major sport to predict and even the best people are way off on some of their predictions each year. He was my biggest miss last year by far and I'm probably going to miss on someone else like that this year. I do think I was playing the percentages correctly with him given his age, but thems the breaks.

Agreed. I would carry Quinn on the roster because he is an outstanding baserunner and can also be used for late game defense. He also might be a nice pinch hitter with a little pop. Put Haseley in AAA and let him get ABs. Start Dickerson and Cutch in CF and sacrifice a bit on defense there.

Cutch in CF coming off an ACL tear and two-ish years removed from conventional wisdom saying he can't play there every day anymore seems like asking for trouble.

Dickerson in CF, Harper in RF, McCutchen in LF

Quinn def replacement in CF/LF

Bruce as the asshammer.

Haseley can get 300 PAs in AAA, then take over Quinn’s role and spell McCutchen.

Dickerson hasn’t played CF since 2015 and has played there in all or part of 27 games in his professional career.

Yeah, I'm not real interested in defense at this point.

Worst CF in baseball was about 11 runs below the average CF, best one was 10 runs above average. Haseley was +4. Let's say Dickerson near the worst, maybe 8 runs below average, 12 below Haseley. I think he can make that difference up in offense, no problem. And you mitigate it a bit with Quinn playing defense close and late, etc.

I'd like to get Haseley more time in the minors, but we don't have another CF option besides Odubel.

exactly. This is the best plan. Quinn will go down at some point and then Haseley can come up. If he continues to improve, he can take Bruce's place on the roster in 2021.

How is Wil Myers defense at 3B?

been both too busy and too shocked by shore turning into me to write much this week.
just want to say that i've given up hope of getting bryant. too many teams with much deeper systems are going to be in on him. i'm left hoping that the braves miss out on both donaldson and bryant.

i also am starting to think that we need to keep bohm and howard and hope they blossom in order to be able to afford to field a contender in the near term. the contract explosion last week changed the math for me.

Dickerson won't fit in their budget unless salary is freed up.

I read somewhere, from Gelb I think, that Miller wants a major league deal and the Phillies want him on a minor league deal so he’s trying to find someone who will give him the major league deal but some far no one else wants to give him one.

TJ Rivera is a Phillies! A few years late for my initial request.

I know the meetings were last week and Christmas break is coming up soon, but isn't it a little weird we haven't lost a free agent to any other team yet? The only news I've seen is Miami checking in on Dickerson, but that's been it. Nothing on Cesar, Maik, any of the 139812983 pitchers...
