Weirdest part of Gibson in 1968, at least to me, is that he still lost 9 games.

It is incredible. Going into June he was 3-5, with a 1.52 ERA. He had lost four straight games at that point, pitching at least 8 innings in all of them, and one of them being a 10 inning complete game. Scores were 3-2, 1-0 (the 10 inning game, vs. our Phighting Phills), 2-0 and 3-1.

He righted himself in June, going 6-0 with a .50 ERA. In fact in June-July he went 12-0 with a .50 ERA.

He lost 4 of his last 8 starts, but really only one of those could be considered "bad." He pitched to a 1.54 ERA in those games.
