I know it's probably asking too much but if they somehow grab Keuchel and Kimbrel for like matching 3/45 deals, I think the are almost a team with no holes and maybe World Series favorites... they hang with the Yankees, Red Sox, or Astros... Lineup, check... up the middle D, check... bench depth, check... starting pitching with depth, check... bullpen, with depth... check... manager and coaching...the wild card there... early prediction... Rhys Hoskins NL MVP... with Harper and Realmuto around him, no one can pitch around him... then we will totally Kevin Durant the league and add Trout in two years too

We really should be involved with Keuchel, would quite possibly come in as our No. 3 SP. Maybe use a more refined version of what the Dodgers did with Bryce - give him some short term options and make someone else beat it.

It's crazy how Hoskins is only 5 months younger than Harper.

agree.
all thinks considered, he's a good bet to be better than arrieta over the next 2-3 seasons. if they land keuchel, they have the option of either trading one or two of our current set of back-of-rotation guys for prospects or eating some salary to do the same with arrieta.

Spitballing here, but Harper alone maybe gets you 250k, maybe not even. But Harper also makes it much more likely the Phillies are in the playoff race until the end (unless of course they run away with it) and that I think easily gets you well over a million over last year.

Honestly, Realken is still going on about opt-outs, his newest tweet says there's conflicting news. Except you can not want something but then discuss it in negotiations in a ploy to get something else.

Conflicting accounts on whether Harper asked for an opt-out from #Phillies. Sources in Harper camp say they didn’t request an opt-out and Harper didn’t want one. However, a #Phillies source with direct knowledge says opt-outs were indeed discussed.

I read this as him saying there's conflicting reports that Harper *asked* for an opt out. Doesn't seem like there's actually an opt out in the deal.
