I mean, I "got" the hate. It was unjustified, but I got it. Fans felt like a scored lover for leaving them. Same way Nationals fans feel about Harper now.

Werth won a championship and was awesome on a bargain contract during his time here. He left for the first massive contract of his career that wouldn’t have been matched here. I was super happy for him.

If we offered him a huge contract or teams were lining up to give him that money and he chose a division rival, I would’ve been bothered by it. Considering I think his first year of that contract exceeded his career earnings to that point, I don’t get how anyone can really hold it against him.

Nothing new if you read my posts or used common sense and logic, but Jeff Passan said on Sportscenter the Phillies made this deal 13 years to lower the AAV in part because they want Mike Trout badly, and the Angels know this, and for the Angels to try to keep him out of Philly they are going to have to make him the highest paid player in baseball history.

David Samson gave his breakdown on how the deal got done. He said it basically when down(mostly) like we all were figuring on here. They would not accept anything under Stanton's deal, they told every team that, that's all they ever asked for, no team was offering that, Harper started to get antsy, Boras told him not to panic he's gonna get you the deal. He gets the Dodgers and Giants involved, Middleton gets nervous and flies out to Vegas. When there tells him they aren't going to surpass Stanton yet among the things they discussed, Boras goes back to the Dodgers, to try to get them to go long-term, but they wouldn't, so he goes back to the Giants. Then Middleton gets nervous, Klentak and MacPhail implore him not to up his offer, but Middleton ignores it and says oh fuck we can't let the fans down we gotta get this guy, ups the offer to beat Stanton and Boras says thanks that's all we wanted. Done deal.

I think this an amazing deal. I'm positive vegas will have a team in 10 years and Bryce will gladly accept a trade there if thats what he wants.

Middleton and Klentak kicked ass this offseason.

They can't until he signs on the dotted line. Standard procedure. I believe all MLB team sites are all universally ran through MLB.com, so they just post major stories on the sites.

I definitely lost sleep. Most stuff seemed to happen in the afternoons, which is like 1am to to 6am here. I stayed up really late a few nights and also couldn't get work done at my normal pace. Then I caught a bad cold, probably from not sleeping enough. Another week of this and I might have been dead.
