That is an actual headline. FFS.

Is it realistic to think the Phillies might actually acquire trout this season?

They might get better within 10 years.

Typically you are paying a premium for a player's prime years vs him from 31-39, but I haven't got what they have been doing for years.

Giants offer seems to be a fail for not beating Stanton's total $.

Not *entirely* impossible if the Angels get the sense that he's unlikely to re-sign that they'd try to move him in July.

That said, with his no-trade clause, he basically dictates where he goes. And he could, in theory, tell them that it's here or nowhere.

I actually thought this might be the case esp after he was immediately embraced again after he came back for the '08 celebration last season. He got one of the biggest ovations

Never got the hate there and never will

I mean, I "got" the hate. It was unjustified, but I got it. Fans felt like a scored lover for leaving them. Same way Nationals fans feel about Harper now.

If your wife chooses to leave you for someone with a better job and more money, you aren't just gonna go "I totally understand, he offers more, it makes total sense."

But it was still unjustified and shouldn't have been that vicious.

Yes, another love analogy.

He isn't a free agent until after next year so doubt they'd know that this year.

So I’m all in on a 2/50+Club or Mutual Option for Keuchel. Let’s win the pennant

This is his pre-agency year though

Keuchel seems to have a 4.85 ERA in his near future.

That puts us over tax number right. I think we are like 18 million under.

Yeah, I know. And maybe they don't know this year, or maybe they have inklings (maybe especially now) and they decide to move him with a year and a half left like teams often do now to maximize the return as much as they can.

That said, with his no-trade, maybe the calculus is different and they just ride it out through 2020 to take every opportunity to convince him to stay.
