Top women getting knocked out unexpectedly is expected though, it is crazy how it happens almost every tournament.
Yeah, there is much more parity there...but 14 seed vs unseeded (though a 2 time slam winner and 32nd ranked in the world) in the final is a little surprising still.

Djokovic is gonna win like 3 slams this year isn't he.

He should win the Aussie and probably Wimbledon, Nadal obviously French favorite but US Open is so far away it may be who is healthy at that point.

If Joker wins 3 and Nadal wins the french it would be Fed 20, Nadal 20 and Joker 19.

my aforementioned friend has a decent wager on kenin at 66-1 to win the tournament.

Crazy to think if one of Federer Joker or Nadal didn't play in this era that the other two guys would probably have almost 30 majors each.

I'm thinking about taking up tennis. I had a couple lessons as a kid but haven't played since. It is big at my gym so I figure that this will be a good way to socialize plus it is good exercise that I can play for a long time.

I don't want to take more lessons, though as I really don't want to be in a class of kids. I guess that I can see if they have adult classes.

Anybody here get into playing tennis as an older person?

I played a good bit as a teen, then took thirty years off (I maybe swung a racket twice in that time), so it was like I was starting over again. Joined an adult school group class and it was a lot of fun. Co-ed, and no one cares what your level is (if you're worse than them it probably makes them happy). Later met up with a lot of the same people either for an adult class in a neighboring town or just for recreational games. A good instructor who keeps it fun and interesting is important, but it's not a huge investment either way. Maybe your gym has an a beginner adult class too? Though an adult school class will usually be very cheap , and you 'll still get a refresher on the basics.

In the meantime you could go whack it against a high wall (PiP)

Was it pandemic insurance or "cancellation for any reason" insurance?

$34 million over 17 years isn't peanuts as a premium...I wonder how the $141M was calculated?

Good question. Piecing together a few different figures out there:

$336M revenue - $50 prize pool = $286M

$52M profit

So roughly $230M in expenses to put the show on?

I wonder if any of that insurance money goes to other than profit- i.e. paying vendors whose services are not necessary, etc.
