Osaka is giving up her citizenship to play for Japan in the 2020 Olympics. Counter move, deny her visa application.

I have always wondered that since neither the United States permits dual citizenship for adults how US Athletes picked up a country to play for in Olympic competition. FWIW, I also learned that Japan does not permit dual citizenship either.

as anyone reading this thread probably knows, Coco Gauff defeated Osaka in the third round . USA, USA, I guess, though I admit I hope (but doubt) Gauff tones down the histrionics in the future. Now pardon me, I have to go yell at a cloud.

seems like there is a lot of value in live betting tennis. my buddy wound up making a few hundred on the tiebreaker by hammer federer at 0-3 and 4-8.

Yeah Fed should have lost down 7-8 or whatever it was in the tiebreak, Millman missed the shot down the line. Really was a coin flip at the end.

Worked out this time but 4-8 is a pretty tough spot. Curious what the odds were. I'd think about it at...+600 maybe?

i'm not sure what he was getting him at. he also got millman at 17-1 at some point in the fifth set which would have eased the loss if feds didn't pull it out. he's always texting about getting good value for the higher seeds if they fall behind. i don't think he's been getting much sleep though.

Odd how it worked out in the Men's quarters with four old farts vs. four Nineties kids.

Though Raonic just slips in with a December 1990 birthday. Will one of them be them first born after 1989 to win a Slam?

(actually 1988, I guess, but that doesn't have the decade-y ring o to it.

Slightly odd fact-the 1988 birthdate is from the 2009 US Open champ , del Potro, still younger than any of the other Grand Slam champs of the past 10 years.

Federer down 2 sets to 1 to Sandgren. Sandgren playing well, but Federer also making a ton of uncharacteristic errors.

Manages to get to a tiebreaker in the fourth set after fending off three match points while serving at 4-5. Sadly I'll have to wait until morning to see how it turns out.

all right, now I'm really going to bed. Sandgren loses like four more match points n teh tiebreaker, but Federer comes back from 6-3 and takes it to a fifth set.

No clue who will win. Sandgren looks a little spent and obviously frustrated, but Federer hasn't been able to handle his serve and is still making errors, though less frequently at the net. Plus he's old.

As unexpected, Halep and Barty go down. Muguruza and Kenin in the final. Kenin at +150 not bad probably.

Top women getting knocked out unexpectedly is expected though, it is crazy how it happens almost every tournament.

Yeah, there is much more parity there...but 14 seed vs unseeded (though a 2 time slam winner and 32nd ranked in the world) in the final is a little surprising still.

Djokovic is gonna win like 3 slams this year isn't he.
