Possibly a dumb question, but would Redick take less money to stay given he cashed in this year?

Redick would probably give us a discount with respect to what a non-contender (like Brooklyn) might pay him (and I think Redick's family is only interested in him playing in NY or Philly). I would acknowledge that this is a wild guess, but I'd think Brooklyn might go something around 10M/yr for him for 2 or 3 years. I think JJ would take about 8.5 M from us. He's not going to get 20M+ from anyone again. I could be wildly wrong, though.

I personally would love to have him back.

He said trade Embiid for 5 second round picks so yeah I would say it is satire.

Missed that part. Either way its a terrible take at satire. The Deadspin obsession with the Sixers is head scratching.

Kind of scary how much all of this comes down to Colangelo getting this summer right. I guess he could figure out a way to punt to next summer but there are going to be some pretty big decisions that will impact this whole era made in the next few months.

Their whole schtick is acting like they are smarter than everyone else (begging the question, if you're so smart why are you slaving away writing for deadspin) so something like the process that attracts maniac supporters and hasn't been definitively proven right (whatever that means) sets off sirens for them.

We need a Redick type if not Redick to deal w spacing issues in starting 5, but if we can't afford him, there should be some younger fallbacks. Wayne Ellington comes to mind. Also like Will Barton, Tyreke and Bradley but they will require at least 3 year deals probably

Also continue to have some level of interest in IT on a 1 year deal. Hed have to buy into playing off bench though...if I'm him and want a 1 year deal i may prefer finding a situation where I could play more mins/rack up more stats. But we talk about needing more P&R ball handlers and making sure we have some heat off bench, that's certainly him

Doesnt the hesitance to give multi years deals last off season give u at least some confidence on that point

Also lebron is going to force us to be patient because if you recall when this circus happened last time, it didn't unfold quickly and we will absolutely not use the max space until lebron tells us hes out. So that could work in favor of those who are scared of BC fucking up bc some of the second tier FA options will go off board while we wait for lebron

Lebron, Paul George, Leonard, punt to next offseason in that order

Agreed except for the punt part. Would still be some guys of some interest to me depending on the #s if we whiff on top 3. Should be interesting

He set himself up for a Max player, but having the space and getting one to come are different things. I don't think he is going to blow the space with lesser guys but I also don't want to kick the can another year to try to get another star in here either.

Punting to next year complicates things though imo. You lose another prime Embiid year, as well as there is no guarantee you can land a superstar the following summer either.

If George or Lebron dont want to come it won't be bc Bryan/Harris etc botched a pitch. Sitting in a dinner meeting ordering $1,000 bottles of wine is collars' comfort zone. We're also objectively the spot to come to in what is the far easier conference to come out of, it just depends if they prefer LA on balance. I though what you guys were concerned about was him Billy king'ing the space if they dont come

What does panic look like? For example, if he can’t get LeBron, PG or Leonard is signing Tyreke to a multi-year deal panic? Will Barton to a big, multi-year deal probably is panic. Is Avery Bradley, too? I honestly don’t know. Just curious what others think.

It's not panic if he leaves room to hunt for a max FA again next season.
