Jim Matheson @NHLbyMatty 14h14 hours ago More Unless there's another NHL club free-agent RW Spencer Foo's eying, he's almost surely going to sign with the hometown Oilers or Philly
Comcast Spectacor bought the ECHL's Alaska Aces and is moving them to Portland ME for 2018-19, with Holmgren being the team's "governor" and Danny Briere overseeing the team's day-to-day operations. Sounds like the Flyers are sticking with Reading for their affiliate though, so not sure who will be on this Portland team

Yeah, the Flyers are in a tough spot with goalies (100% their own doing). You have Neuvirth (who can't be relied on to stay healthy or be good) at 2.5m for the next 2 years which is cheap starter or expensive back-up money . Stolarz looks promising but is still a work in progress (who also is recovering from a torn ACL). I don't think you can go into the season comfortably with them as your goalie tandem. You have great prospect depth with Carter Hart, Felix Sandstrom, Merrick Madson and Alex Lyon but it would super rare for any of them to be good NHL goalies within 2 years. Who will be the starting goalie for a potential Flyers playoff team in the 2018/19 season? I'm wondering if they might make a splash during this expansion/draft/free agency period.
If we lose Neuvirth and let Mason walk, who's our goalie gonna be? I saw that Eklund suggestion of Mike Smith earlier today (2 more seasons, $5.67M cap hit). FAs include Ryan Miller, Bernier, Brian Elliott, Pavelec, Enroth and Gustavsson, among others
