What's the cutoff for a prospect? Swanson started 36 games, had 145 PA, and isn't a rookie this year. And he's a fucking Brave.

I take it back. They kept him at 129 AB so he would be rookie eligible. I hope he hits .214.

I thought I saw somewhere about him missing the rookie cutoff by 1 AB

Entire article is fun read, but a gem at the bottom:

Last season was Wainwright's first full year since tearing his Achilles tendon in 2015. He struggled with the feel of what was once a devastating curveball. He went 13-9 after posting 39 wins over the previous two seasons.

This week, after watching his own instructional internet video on how to throw a curve, Wainwright realized his grip had shifted slightly. The old grip brought back the old hook.

Sometimes it's best to consult an expert.

That's a cool article, but 2016 was his first full season since tearing his Achilles in 2015? Today is my first day at work since leaving the office on Thursday.

The Pirates and Cardinals are planning to move their Aug. 20 game, originally set for PNC Park, to Williamsport, Pa., a source told DKPittsburghSports.com Monday morning.

going to play at bowman field, home of the crosscutters.

That's cool, but it raises a crucial question:

Why?

I guess the Pirates are plum tired of selling 30,000+ tickets to their games?

I too was like WTF? Then I noticed it is during the little league World Series. I guess MLB is going to subsidize the game. Nothing better than stealing some attention from a bunch of 12-13 year olds, I guess. MLB will nationally televise and use the kids in the LLWS at the game as some goodwill gesture. Players can't be too happy, granted its a historic field, but even by minor league standards it's not so good. I can hear players complaining of how the lack of jumbotrons and led advertisements flashing through out the game is a distraction and disservice to their fans.

One would think that with the Crosscutters being a Phillies affilliate, the game might involve them? But I guess not...

alert for those who love stats:
the mlb statcast site data and graphics resources have been expanding significantly this month.
regular visits there are HIGHLY recommended. among other things legendary sabr-dude tom tango (godfather of all versions of war and wpa) now works for them!
defensive data? ... spectacular.
batter and pitcher performance splits for pitch type and speed? ... spectacular
batter spray charts?... great
batter average launch angle and velocity displays? great and getting better [now available for splits but still waiting for the "barrel diagram" version with points for each batted ball to show up... they've been teasing with tweets of these charts for individuals all winter]

meanwhile, don't forget to consider paying for bp's new tunneling data, the other awesome new toy rolled out this offseason.

speaking of paying for bp, since i STILL haven't... can anyone tell me where the phils placed on their minor league system rankings published last week?

Three very deep systems that lacks the same abundance of potential impact talent of the top tier. The Phillies system is the easiest of the three to get a handle on, perhaps because it is mostly the same names as last year. The names themselves have actually gotten a bit better, as they swapped “Jake Thompson” for “Sixto Sanchez.”

Legend goes... His one post on philliesphans on a late September day back in 2006 created the schism that would lead to the civil war and the creation of BSG. Many of the founding fathers here took his words of wisdom of that day and he will forever be remembered as a modern day Thomas Paine.

Kris Bryant signed for $1.05M, the highest amount ever for a 3rd-year player (Trout got $1M)

MLB told ESPN it can not televise Nats-BoSox game from the Naval Academy as originally planned. No reason given. Secret new Trumpship being constructed in Annapolis?
