MLB Statistics @MLBRandomStats
Intentional walks took an estimated 1410 minutes in 2016.
That is 35 seconds per game. Is the automatic IBB really gonna fix pace of play?

So dumb. Will save, at best, on-and-a-half pitches per game Not worth losing contemplating the unlikely event that a ball will get thrown away or wander into hittable territory (or that a runner will advance). Wonder how it will be indicated. Can imagine having a sip of beer and wondering how the hell someone ended up on first base.

Still have to watch someone take thirty seconds to shed all their equipment and saunter on down.

I have a feeling it is going to take just as long, or longer, for the manager to signal from the dugout, the umpire to notice and acknowledge the signal, confirm that is what they want, and inform the batter to head down to first.
Yes son. I'm the best mono-thingy guy there ever was.

Gotta check with New York too.

Well when they go back to it next year they can use the excuse of speeding up the game again.

To be fair, he wanted to implement several changes for this season and this was the only one the players union would agree to. Next year there will be more (limits to mound visits, more time limits, etc) since they apparently dont need player approval.
I hate signatures, but I love irony.

Hartford spent all of 2016 on the road because of multiple contractor issues involving their new stadium. Another contractor picked up the project in October and the stadium is pretty much ready to go for April......and now the FBI is investigating how funds were spent after vendors claimed they weren't paid and there could be $8M-$12M of public funds missing. What's Jim Bowden's Insider list of top 20 free agents next offseason?

#20 = Eduardo Nunez
#19 = Alcides Escobar
#18 = Bruce
#17 = Pineda
.
.
(Arrieta, Hosmer and Lorenzo Cain are somewhere on the list. Probably JD Martinez and CarGo too)

It's not that big of a deal. They don't have to use the park until April.

In the Phils ST topic, we debated whether or not the Phils farm system should be ranked top-10 ahead of Cincinnati and Tampa Bay. MLB's countdown continues today with #7 and #8.

#8 is Colorado, whose top 5 is Rodgers/Hoffman/Pint/G.Marquez/R.Tapia (all in the top 90 overall)

#7 is Pittsburgh, whose top 5 is Glasnow/Meadows/Bell/M.Keller/K.Newman (all in the top 60 overall)

Remaining: Braves, Brewers, Dodgers, Padres, White Sox, Yankees
