JUburton wrote:Yeah, he said he was fighting his swing on par 3s all week. Weird when guys aren't hitting their short irons well but longer stuff seemed fine. He was pretty good in strokes gained tee to green but I guess didn't feel that comfortable with the par 3s.
I'm not going all Bubba and blaming the caddie, but Greller has to make sure they have the perfect 3rd shot distance and swing. Get it on the green and even with a 2 putt he's still tied for the lead with a few birdie holes left. That chunk in the water was just inexcusable. Jordan even said in the interview that he should have gone to the drop area where they knew the yardage. I figured they went there and walked it off and had a good number but a pro only chunks it that badly if he's not mentally committed. With all the extra time he can take, that shot was rushed and cost him the tournament (I know he lost by 3 but he plays the rest of the way in differently if he's only one back after 12).

Unrelated but I didn't know/forgot that Tiger shot 40 on the front in 1997. He was -22 for the remaining 63 holes and won by a dozen strokes. My word.

Spieth felt no wind at all. You never feel the right wind at No. 12. He hit his 9-iron and thought he’d hit it well. As he looked into the sky, he saw that his ball seemed to be fighting a little something, as if it was trying to break a tackle. What was that? Wind? “Go,” he said softly. The ball hit the front of the green, seemed to briefly take in the scenery, and then regretfully rolled back into the water.
Damn. Tiger just one weird dude. Unsurprisingly I guess.JUburton wrote:Good longform on Tiger from Wright Thompson
