Kind of reassuring to discover the guy's a human being
Yes, but in a double utley you can put your utley on top they other guy's utley, and you're the winner. (Swish)

I don't know anything about golf but what's up with Jordan Speith looking like an extremely successful 55 year old?

As much as I hate to admit this, Brandel Chamblee made a great point on the Golf Channel. I am paraphrasing but he was saying Spieth was clearly fighting his swing all week (has been all year) and he's a huge technology guy. Sometimes you need to let it rip and you can tell he's overthinking things.

Yeah, he said he was fighting his swing on par 3s all week. Weird when guys aren't hitting their short irons well but longer stuff seemed fine. He was pretty good in strokes gained tee to green but I guess didn't feel that comfortable with the par 3s.

I'm not going all Bubba and blaming the caddie, but Greller has to make sure they have the perfect 3rd shot distance and swing. Get it on the green and even with a 2 putt he's still tied for the lead with a few birdie holes left. That chunk in the water was just inexcusable. Jordan even said in the interview that he should have gone to the drop area where they knew the yardage. I figured they went there and walked it off and had a good number but a pro only chunks it that badly if he's not mentally committed. With all the extra time he can take, that shot was rushed and cost him the tournament (I know he lost by 3 but he plays the rest of the way in differently if he's only one back after 12).

saw smylie said he somehow got a bad lay on that drop. guessing that just got in his mind and took an extra big chunk.

Yeah, I just saw that too. He's young...he'll learn from it I guess. Don't think he'll ever take the foot off the gas again.

Unrelated but I didn't know/forgot that Tiger shot 40 on the front in 1997. He was -22 for the remaining 63 holes and won by a dozen strokes. My word.

What a freak.

I keep holding out hope that he has a last charge left somewhere in him because that could be one of the best stories in sports history with all of the young guns in the sport now.

I'd love to see him get another major and break Snead's record. I don't think he can hit 18 majors but 3 or 4 more tournaments seems possible. Shit, he won 5 in 2013 alone. If Phil can win 4 tournaments including a major after 40 then Tiger can.

I don't really care even though I am kind of spelling nerd but as someone who goes to three different sports message boards I will say that only about 20% actually spell Spieth correctly.

Yeah, that was kind of my thinking listening to him post round and he was mentally lost on the 12th. He said that the tee shot is a stock nine iron for him and he made a weak swing. Shit happens but I think the two of them are almost overly technical when it comes to the right club/shot shape to hit. Also, they should have learned something from 2014....

Spieth felt no wind at all. You never feel the right wind at No. 12. He hit his 9-iron and thought he’d hit it well. As he looked into the sky, he saw that his ball seemed to be fighting a little something, as if it was trying to break a tackle. What was that? Wind? “Go,” he said softly. The ball hit the front of the green, seemed to briefly take in the scenery, and then regretfully rolled back into the water.

Like you said, he will learn from his mistakes and not take his foot off the gas. Hopefully as he continues to mature professionally he will start to trust his instincts a bit more and learn to play the safe shot when needed. As much as Tiger turned into a robot on the course, there is a reason he never was totally out of contention 2009 and prior. He knew that he couldn't make a run on every shot and seemed to miss in the right place.

Yeah, pretty fascinating article and considering the time between his dad's death and his SEAL training, Tiger won 4 majors and 19 PGA events. Even with all the private/personal shit he had going on he was still winning at a level that might never be replicated. It's absolutely unreal.
