I root for Tiger cause he's the GOAT. I think Phil is a prick.

Have you read the stuff about Reed? Not exactly controversial to say he's a real asshat.

Feel bad for Fowler. Always the bridesmaid.

Yes they are all assholes but so are a lot of professional athletes. It's just weird to ignore it for one guy because he used to be a great golfer imo.

Because I'll root for the best ever unless they're basically a murderer.

I'm not sure why JU, or anyone else has, to defend themselves and their preferences regarding golfers, or tennis players or whatever.Teams we root for due to accidents of geography, or upbringing or whatever, and only occasionally by a conscious choice. Individual athletes, unless we know them personally, and I'm usually glad we don't, we pick because of the way they play the game, or conduct themselves in matches, or maybe because of some public statements they've made that lead to us to believe they'd be cool to have a beer with, or better having a beer poured over their head. Looking for logic in that seems crazy.I hate Phil who seems the embodiment of Masters of the Universe Republicanism, but that probably describes 90% of the players on the tour. I like Tiger for the excitement he brought, and brings, to golf, and his public pronouncements have always been calculatedly anodyne, so I'm willing to overlook the indisputable indications that he treats the people around him like dirt. Patrick Reed looks, and acts like and overfed frat boy, so I'm perfectly willing to believe the worst accounts of his behavior. As long as we recognize that we don't know any of these people and certainly shouldn't act out any behavior that will affect them in real life, who cares if we pick favorites, and whether these favorites make any sense? Yeah, it's nice to watch a well-executed chip shot, but without rooting interests the sport of golf would die out pretty damn quickly.

Nobody has to defend who they root for but they also don't need to post how terrible someone is that they don't like. It's probably just easier to leave out personal life stuff for all these guys rather than picking and choosing the terrible behavior of certain athletes while ignoring it for other guys for whatever reason. To me from what I have heard I would probably say the stuff Tiger has done is much worse than Phil and Reed, but I don't actively root against any of them because of it. Half the people on this board were probably dumb college kids, and if we were pro level golfers who knows how we would act. Hell, Rahm looks like he is an overfed Frat Boy with a temper out there on the course, but he is also just a 23 year old #3 golfer in the world so I won't hold it against him.

Reed had the best week, Fowler may have had the best weekend and Spieth had the best day today. It was a great tournament and good for Reed for beating out these other great golfers.

@realDonaldTrump: Congratulations to Patrick Reed on his great and courageous MASTERS win! When Patrick had his amazing win at Doral 5 years ago, people saw his great talent, and a bright future ahead. Now he is the Masters Champion!

Reed florescent fuchsia shit clashed nicely with the green jacket. It seemed a tougher course this year, but always enjoyable to see such a setting. I've listened to people stupidly rumbling about Reed's score, but they just need to learn rule one of golf: how do you win a round.
